He's on fire early doors. I had my doubts that he could adjust to the pace, and whilst they've not played the best sides yet he's settled nicely.

Jackson Irvine left out of Burton Albion's squad- pending a move. Apparently in talks with Hull City. If he gets regular starts, then that's a good move. Sure he ll come up to EPL next season

Last weekend of action before the all-important World Cup Qualifiers against Japan on Thursday (25/8-27/8)

Starting with the English Premier League, Aaron Mooy continues his impressive start to the season, playing the full game for Huddersfield drawing 0-0 with Southampton. That makes it 7 points out of a possible 9 points, keeping the Terriers within the top 4. Mat Ryan played another 90 minutes for Brighton, picking up his first (hopefully would be a start of many) clean sheet, drawing 0-0 with 10-man Watford. Brighton picked up their first point in the top flight this season, however are still yet to score after 270 minutes of football. Brad Smith was again left on the bench for AFC Bournemouth, as they couldn't hold on in what would've been an impressive draw against Manchester City, losing 2-1 in injury time.

In the tier below, a host of Aussies played a key role in their clubs, with Bailey Wright, Massimo Luongo and James Meredith all playing a full game for their clubs. Meredith's Millwall picked up an impressive 4 nil win over Norwich City, while Wright's Bristol City drawing 1-1 with Aston Villa. Unfortunately for Luongo's QPR it was a 2-1 loss to Cardiff City.

Over in Germany, Matt Leckie played a full game for Hertha Berlin, but couldn't inspire his team this time, losing 2-0 away to Borussia Dortmund. Mitch Langerak was again back up keeper for Stuttgart, picking up their first win of the season 1 nil against Mainz. Below, in the 2. Bundesliga, Robbie Krus started again, picking up valuable playing time with 80 minutes for Bochum in their 3-2 win over Dynamo Dresden. Both Ben Halloran and Jamie MacLaren came off the bench for their clubs. MacLaren came on in the 76th minute with the game at 1-1- before winning 2-1. Halloran came on much later, at the 83rd minute for Heidenheim losing 1-0.

Tomi Rogic will get to experience Champions League football this season, going through to the group stages. However will be a difficult task at hand- facing off against PSG, Bayern Munich and Anderlecht. Rogic played a full game in the Scottish Premier League, drawing 1-1 against St. Johnstone. Ryan Edwards (for Patrick Thistle) came on in the 58th minute, but couldn't help his side to a valuable win, losing instead 4-3 against Aberdeen. Better luck for Andy Rose as he played the full game in Motherwell's 2-1 win against Hearts.

Brad Jones is another Aussie that will get a taste of Champions League football, with Feyenoord drawing Manchester City, Napoli and Shaktar Donesk. For the Dutch Eredivisie, Jones played a full game and earned a clean sheet as the feigning title holders thrash Willem II 5 nil. Craig Goodwin played a full game for Sparta Rotterdam, drawing 2-2 with NAC Breda in the Dutch Eredivisie. Kenneth Dougall also played a full game in the draw alongside Goodwin. Ajdin Hrustic was left on the bench for Groningen's 2-1 win over Utrecht. Terry Antonis was also on the bench, playing no part in VVV- Venlo's 2-0 loss against Ajax.

In English League One, Ryan Williams played 46 minutes for Rotherham United before coming off, losing 2-0 against Charlton Athletic. Bradford City drew 3-3 against Walsall where Lachlan Barr came off the bench in the 77th minute for City. Brad Inman also came off the bench, playing 44 minutes for Rochdale's 0-0 with Bury. Plymouth Argyle were embarrassed 4 nil at home against Scampaignerhrope, however Cam Burgess stayed on the bench for the victors. Aiden O'Neill played a full game, on loan for Fleetwood Town, losing 3-1 against Bristol Rovers.

In the English Premier League 2 (Division 2), Jordan Lynden scored as Aston Villa's U23 won 3-2 against Fulham's U/23.

Tomi Jurich continues his fine scoring form, putting away a penalty for Luzern's 1-1 draw with Zurich in the Swiss Super League.

Danny Vukovic started in goals for Genk in the Belgian Division A, earning a cleansheet in his side's 1-0 win over Mechelen.

In the Turkish Super Ligue, Aziz Behich played a full game for Bursaspor however loss 2-1 against Besiktas.

Over in Austria, Jimmy Jeggo came off the bench for Sturm Graz, playing 16 minutes in the 1-0 win over Salzburg.

Mustafa Amini played a full game in AGF's 0-0 draw against Aalborg in the Danish Super League.

For Rosenberg in the Norwegian Cup, Alex Gersbach played 79 minutes as his side loss 2-1 against Valerenga.

In Portugal, Awer Mabil was sent off in the first half of Pacos De Ferreria's 0-0 draw with Vitoria. Whereas Nicholas Ansell played a full game for Tondela, winning 3-0 against Moreirense.

Interesting news. Mitch Langerak will miss the quaifiers this week, as he has club issues to resolve before the transfer deadline on Thursday. It has been reported that due to not starting regularly this season for Stuttgart in the Bundesliga, he will reportedly seal a move to Spanish La Liga club Levante.

Big news if true. Spent 7 years in Bundesliga, and won the 2. Bundesliga title with Stuttgart, but obviously been pushed out in the starting XI

Goodwin putting in good minutes for Sparta Rotterdam, and should be playing for the green and gold, right now at right wing. Puzzling why he wasn't chosen for the Confederation Cup and now this qualifying campaign. Yet Kruse does? Think Goodwin is technically better at the position, and fitter.

Not sure what these players have to do to get game time for country. Many must debate whether it's worth it. Ange playing favourites here
Need strikers bad, Jamie MacLaren will slowly and surely get some game time.

Goodwin just scored
And yet he doesn't make the squad.. he's been in good form, regularly starting in a respectable league.

Great to see Leckie and Keuse scoring. Leckie has been hitting the back of the net both country and club. 4 goals in 5 games this season, including 1 for Australia.

Who are the 5 best aussies playing across the globe right now? how would you rank them?

1. Mooy
2. Rogic
3. Leckie
4. Kruse
5. Wright? (wasn't quite sure who would be the 5th)

interesting topic of conversation really
Wouldn't say Wright. He isn't exactly gifted with skill and pace. Does a good job defending though. Captain of Bristol City.

A bit of an out there player, but can say Craig Goodwin is possible top 5. Regularly starts for Sparta Rotterdam, and performs. What more could you want from an European based player.

Maty Ryan also needs more respect. Starting for Brighton, and earned another cleansheet. He's getting more confident now, playing in the EPL.
