Tigers - 2017 Premiers

They deserve praise for a team universally known to finish 9th. The kicking into the wind decision, going from 13th last year to 1st this year...... taking out the afls love children in Geelong, GWS and the minor premiers Adelaide holyyyy crap thats a good result.

Premiers but tainted. Cotchin shouldn't have been eligible to play. Well done AFL. A Richmond flag is a better profit.

He served his suspension on the ground, wasn't sighted often during the match!!

Cannot fault it. Richmond truly beat all comers.

Well done tigers , not the best team in it but the best team in September when it counts

Reckon the bye before finals will get the boot , the traditional higher placed teams will make sure of it

No injuries and some good luck and manic pressure got the tigers home , would it have been the same result had they played the cats at Geelong ?

Expected better from the crows

Can’t fault their on field performance but fans burning opposition scarfs is pretty ******* ordinary.

Just shows any club can win it, just have to show up on the day.

yep

every oppo fan that doubted us after every win this year can suck my tiny wang

deboy and stevic did their best all year but we still made finals then easily dispensed with all the oppos the AFL could come up with

townsend the best forward of all time and afl will be handing over the rising star award to jack graham overnight instead

jack riewoldt now officially the best riewoldt

cotchin captain of the AA of the century side

12 teams could win it next year. Many had Tigers in their bottom 4 at the start of the year!

This years result shows that it's one of the most even comps ever ... the AFL must be happy about that.

We threw away reserves premiership. Should have won everything this year. We will bolster our list with 2 quality tall forwards. We are building a dynasty

Those last two lines sound like dogs fans last year! Doesn't always happen.

Just enjoy this one first

Richmond payed a first round pick (Pick 6) and a second round 2017 selection for Dion Prestia, a price considered steep at the time, especially given his early form where he was criticized for under-performing. His performances in the latter parts of the year and the finals, however was much improved and have gone a long way to justify his pay packet. In the light of the seasons end, is there a genuine case mounting for Prestia being the best recruit for the year?

Certainly there are a number of players who have had better individual seasons (Tom/Sam Mitchell, Tuohy, Hibberd, Brad Hill etc) but surely it is of no coincidence that Dustin Martin has one of the great individual seasons and Cotchin's return to A-grade form is off the back of Prestia's work in the coal-face?

His final series at the very least has shown how important he is to Richmond's most impressive midfield. To top it all off, he puts out another fantastic performance on the biggest stage.

Could he be considered the recruit of the year?

They had a very good off-season. Only took 3 picks and traded in the right people to get the job done. Prestia huge, Caddy a gift but I think the Nankervis trade is the one that pushed them a little further, what's they give up for him a pick in the 40's?

Great job Tiges!
