Pretty clear now that Brisbane of 2001-03 were quite easily the best team ever and by a long long way.
Won theee flags against teams from Victoria. Two against a team on their home deck and the other against a team that had just moved from there.
How on earth did they do it??? Wow!

Maybe they were just the best team and the rest is all bullshit?

Yeah probably that.

Yeah two teams rolled into one.

Roll two teams into one now with a good coach and see what happens.

Give clarkson hawks and norf or hawks and brisbane and watch the magic.

It would be like - wow look at all these really good players and our amazing depth

For extra points base this team at the gabba which is quite similar to the g in dimensions

Supporters are 50/50 in a Grand Final and half of those are neutral corporates.

Apart from an hour flight, why so much salt?

If you think support in that granny was 50/50 ....

Listen to the roar when richmond come out then the boos along with muted cheers when adelaide come out.

Its almost like its ...... in victoria..... with 100000 people there - how many adelaide supporters are mcg members ya reckon?

Or afl members - or work for corporates in victoria that can snaffle seats.

Also the mcg is a pretty uniquely sized ground - very wide and round - sides that live there have a game plan for it. Side that dont dont.

Interstate sides generally do poorly against tenants except cellar dwellers.

Home ground advantage is a thing with thousands of studies done on it. Google that s**t.

But that's because we're a massive club, it has nothing to do with us receiving any ticket advantage whatsoever.

not sure anyone brought this up, didnt bother reading all 35 pages. What about like the NFL system, rotate the grand final different city. MCG 2018, Domain 2019, Adel 2020.. etc obviously the ground will need to be a certain standard.

Yes - but buddy - if it was held in perth adelaide or waikikamukau in nz

You wouldnt have had that advantage

Which is why......

Wait for it ......

Wait for it........

We are saying you had an unearned home ground advantage.

You played at your home ground, in front of your fans, in your state, stayed in your own beds, played at a ground you play every second week.

Is it sinking in yet?

Top 4 teams this year.

Adelaide (11-3 at Adelaide Oval, 6-1-4 away from Adelaide Oval)
Geelong (6-1 at Skilled, 10-1-7 away from Skilled)
Richmond (12-2 at the MCG, 6-5 away from the MCG)
GWS (10-1-1 at Spotless & Manuka, 5-1-7 away from Spotless & Manuka)

Winning away from home is a lot harder than winning at your home ground, interstate clubs have to hope they land another interstate club who is likely to also play 2 times a year at the MCG.

Having a grand final at your home ground is just a ludicrous advantage its pretty obvious.
For mine this is the most relevant post in this whole thread.

Shows just how much of an advantage home ground is and how unfair the system is that allows a side to finish third and have 3 home finals, including the biggest game of the year.

If the Grand Final was held in Perth, I guarantee you that Richmond supporters would fill their ticket allocation and provide an equal or louder voice than the opposition.

Richmond has enormous support at all levels, from corporate types (who get most of the tickets) to long suffering members.

That's what should happen but will the AFL give up less tickets sold due to lower capacities?

A possible answer is to charge more for the tickets in lower capacity stadiums so the AFL ends up with the same profit.

Don't worry though teams who's home ground is MCG will definitely not want it moved see Richmond, Hawthorn, Collingwood fans in here

It's a neutral final.

Adelaide and Richmond had an equal allocation of Grand Final tickets.

So you get a 20k crowd of rich people? That's against the spirit of the game. They'd politely clap the umpires.

Plus, 100k tribal passionate supporters will create memories and emotional ties with the clubs, leading to significantly higher turnover in the future in terms of gate revenue, TV viewers, merch, etc.

You want to engage as many people as possible.

So the stadium where Richmond play how many home games a year is 'neutral'?

Apart from the flight to Melbourne, the stadium itself is just a stadium - it's the people who create the advantage with noise. Richmond will always have enormous support, and therefore in a neutral match with 50/50 ticket allocation and 50/50 corporate ticket allocation to neutrals, Richmond will always sound louder.

Doubt it - face value cheapest tickets are what? $200? If you can afford that you can afford $300 or $400

If you only increase the price by $100, you're not going to price enough people out of the market to justify a significantly smaller stadium.

You

You surely can't be seriously suggesting a game in a clubs home city on their home ground against an interstate club could ever be 'neutral'??

Absolutely - your stadium holds 60k right? 30k corporate neutrals, half of those will be Vic/Richmond/Freo supporters and the other half West Coast. Of the 30k allocated to members, Richmond would easily sell 15k tickets for a Perth grand Final - 5k for WA fans and 10K for VIC fans at the very, very least.

Richmond would easily match your crowd noise in a neutral Grand Final in WA in a medium sized stadium. I don't have enough data to predict a 100k stadium though, and not aware of the corporate allocation. I imagine it'd be 60/40 in your favour in a 100k stadium, which VIC teams are used to from the home and away season where every VIC match has about a 60/40 split depending on who's home game it is.

Plus Richmond supporters and feral and loud.

We are used to paying 1500 for a flight and 1500 for a ticket in wa
- im sure we could take a 20% surcharge or whatever for a perth game

Paging freo fans to the thread paging all freo fans to the thread

Cmon dockers - this is the one thing you guys can wave - aside from a who gives a fkkkk trophy.

To the op : if your lot fly to perth and make more noise

YOU HAVE EARNED IT!!!

Get it moved, get involved, get a petition, write to the AFL, do whatever it takes.
I am all for it, but i don't like your chances.

I was open to rotating the gf around different cities, but then we'd have to forego all this whining, so, now I think we should keep the gf at the G.
I hadnt decided whether to vote yes or no but hearing about someone receiving an sms tipped me over the precipice
