Listened to the interview and my read was a bit different.

While Connors certainly wants Stringer traded he seemed to concede that the Dogs insistence that he would be held to his contract if a suitable trade wasn’t found was genuine.

He also stated that Stringer hadn’t specifically nominated Essendon as his preferred club at this stage.

I thought Connors sounded pretty pissed off with the way the whole thing has gone. He mentioned several times that someone else in his office is looking after the Stringer stuff and that if this sort of situation arose again, he would be asking a lot more questions.
There is a hell of a lot more to this than any of us know - even those who proclaim to know

With Essendon:

Then

With Brisbane:

Pick 9 - Shache and 19

Altogether we

Lose: Stringer, Pick 9 and 27
Gain: Pick 11, 19, 47 and Shache

The reason that I say 9 for Shache and 19 is because the draft rap seemed to suggest that Brisbane would be happy with that deal. Push comes to shove we could throw 47 at Brissy too to ice the cake if they needed it, we'd still be going 9 and 27 for 11 and 19 which is a good deal, and then Stringer for Schache which I almost prefer because Shache is a more conventional player with his major down sound being seemingly removed in by moving to us
