Dion is an East Keilor Junior I believe? There is absolutely no way that kind of money is being offered. Bigfooty rumour mill in full swing.

Just checked their Facebook page, don’t see a recruit from sunbury? I’m assuming you’re talking about Sunbury Lions in the BFL?

Based on what he got paid at St. Albans this year there is no way he would be going home for any less than 1k a game unless there was some time of employment opportunity through someone involved in the club
I’m tipping 1000-1200 a game he would have signed for and that’s taking a pay cut

I told you they offered him 1500 a game. Still like to know where they getting there money from. From their new recruits posted on fb I’d say most would be getting somewhere between 600-800. Plus 1500 for Hill that’s about 5000k a week for 7 players.

Some incredible figures being thrown around here?
Dion went on a trip I believe last year? Could have just signed at a club that was the highest bidder straight out of VFL

If St Albans were silly enough to pay that ammount of money. That’s an enidghtment, but as a young man you’d take it.

I can categorically say. There’s absolutely no way EK would have offered anywhere near that, perhaps loyalty and playing with close mates isn’t lost on some local players.

I hope your right for Sake of EK. Because they could be like TL now an OP in the past and not be able to afford it. Costing the club in the long run.
OP are still paying the price and for the rumblings at TL this year they might be in some trouble after over spending in 2017.

His on really good coin Dippa. Could well be the highest paid player in this comp.
Gleeson would be on decent coin as well. I’m lead to believe Knight has gone there as his good mates with Arrow, so excellent pick up. Don’t think his played much footy over the last couple of seasons but if his 80% fit and plays every game he will go close to winning the comp medal. Will be to good for div1 if his firing but my mail suggest he just wants to enjoy his footy and is playing for unders.. Great pick up by EK. The appointment of Arrow as coach is starting to pay dividends. Not sure they are ready to win it and go up but it’s been a good recovery after playing div2 only a few years ago..

Agree , prime example of getting the "right" people back interested in the club.. EK had a huge year financially last saeson with a couple of functions including the 50 year dinner and family day which has made the bank balance very healthy, that has allowed them to get a few players in.. If they are smart build for a couple of years, get the right mix if and when they're ready to get back with the Big Boys

That is absolute nonsense and dribble, Dion is an EK boy who wants to play back at his club with his mates. For you to say that he could well be the highest player in the comp is just a complete fabrication of the truth and something you'd have absolutely no idea about.

EK has implemented complete financial governance over the past few years and not one of the players signed for this year are getting paid the figures that have been bandied about, i can assure you that a limit was set that NO one player would be paid over a set modest amount in comparison to others in the comp. So in all seriousness if youre just going to pedal b...s... make sure you state that you have no idea and its only your opinion.

Let me assure you of one thing, the above isn't an opinion, its fact

Same goes for you Horse, another load of tripe based on ZERO facts. There wouldn't be a player at EK getting paid even half that amount per game so again make sure you quantify your b...s... with the disclaimer that you have no idea and only making stuff up.

Is that the club prepared statement ready for the auditors if they come knocking?
All these signings took substantial paycuts to play b grade football for the love of the cougars jumper?
 
Guys, new to these forums. Long time reader, first time writer. This talk about the countless amounts of money being thrown around is total crap.
I am involved at the club & more or less a loyal fan as I live 2 minutes walk from the ground. Arrow got a few mates to come down who won't be on much & want to all play footy together & Dion is a former EK player and wanted to come back last season but now he is finally back for a long time. Really good bloke too, very mature for his age and will be a key position forward (CHF). The clubs pre-season starts in 3 and a bit weeks with still some more signings to come I am told. And again no, not for big money we don't have that sort of cash to just throw around. Whats the point?

What does it matter what EK are spending ? There is a salary cap that they can spend up to and if they go over, however unlikely, they will get caught. Good luck to them. Appointed a good coach with a good network and blooded a lot of young guys last season. Entitled to top up their list with some good experienced players, but they will all need to improve as a team. Westy were all the hype last season and delivered nothing.
On another note I’m not sure where the Taylors Lakes rumors have come from ? I asked a question of a committee member and been told that the club over recent years has removed the debt left behind by previous footy department and have increased the 2018 budget slightly. The 2017 team has all been resigned bar 3 players - Kennedy (East Keilor) Morelli (retired), Younger Longo (St Albans). Morelli and Longo were well paid so opens up room for new recruits. Kennedy struggled most of the year and is a fringe player. One very good player, a midfielder, has signed and there is a few more close to being announced. They will be a good competitive team again in a very good even competition. Div.1 is very healthy and all teams have fair claims to play finals which should make for another great season.

Not sure that account name suits you well. You seemed to have your back up pal. Do you think that just because it’s his junior club he would accept a much lower coin to return? Cmon mate get real. People talk in footy circles.. I really couldn’t care what his getting and I say good luck to him and EK. If he performs then it’s a good investment and I would rather clubs give extra $$ to local boys rather than pay dud recruits overs. Need to also consider his a 1 pointer which is handy as well.

Another big name about to be announced as well..

Haha well it suits me more than you that's for sure, stand by the fact that he is being paid unders and certainly not the highest paid player in the comp as you decided to spruik.

Got me back up, yeah because ive been intricately involved and can speak facts whereas all you can speak is nonsense that people talk in footy circles and then attempt to make it sound like you actually know when in fact you're that far removed you wouldn't know if you're Arthur or Martha.

i think its a great forum but people need to quantify that they really don't know what they're talking about and only going off complete scuttlebutt
