So the time has come, my days of using MS Paint are numbered. I have avoided it for so long but coming towards the end on my postgrad I have realised that using AI is essential to my future career.
Biggest signing on #deadlineday

Photoshop is like 13 dollars a month it's really affordable if you work - I understand lots here are young though. While I find the pen tool interface and logo work easier and more precise in Illustrator, it costs like 28 a month/annual and isn't as essential or powerful. I'd encourage anyone looking to finally make the jump from Paint to get a Photoshop sub. I haven't had Illustrator since I got Photoshop legit and I haven't missed it too much. You can basically do everything in PS than you can do in AI and much more.

What's your degree?
Librarianship...turns out with the wholesale government cuts to all things education that librarians are expected to build websites and have a firm grasp of graphic design since most small to mid-sized libraries can't afford significant IT support. The advice given to me was basically as a graduate if I can wrap my head around this stuff I will stand out above most of the softly spoken female middle-aged teachers that tend to move into the profession.

So after a little bit of playing around, my first effort is a recolour of the unsuccessful proposed North Melbourne logo...which should have been selected. I have made it for my old side, the Pinnaroo Football Club in the Mallee. All credit going to the great designer, who's name slips me now.

UPDATED
Great design, Fraser Davidson.

The ears could do with a bit of a clean up along with the leg end (I assume you are using the pen tool?), but besides that, a good first effort! :thumbsu:
I also hope you manage to trace in your template from ms paint (the angled one), would look very nice!

*cough*AMT Emulator*Cough*

It replaces a file in any Adobe app registry that checks for whether the app is a trial or not. But you didn't hear that from me.
I just edit the AMT every week when the trial runs out. Slightly tedious, but it ends up being worth it.

I think I remember reading here a while ago that a few guys from here are/were studying Journalism at University. I'm interested to hear what subjects those people picked for Year 11 as currently I'm in the midsts of choosing mine for next year and I'm stressing a bit that the ones I have chosen will not get me the 70+ score I'm looking for. So far I've picked English Lit, Modern History, Psychology (Thinking of replacing with Chemistry?), Biology and Maths Applications, but I'm second guessing if these will be fine or not because of scaling and stuff. Any assistance from somebody who was once in the same boat as me would be appreciated.

Does anyone here have a VHS to digital converter and would mind running a conversion if I paid them to buy a VHS off eBay?

If you get desperate, I have both a VCR and a DVD recorder which I have used to convert before. Then just rip the DVD if you want a digital copy. Slightly tedious process but gets the job done.

Is that 70+ ATAR? Anyone can get that with any selection of subjects. What are you good at?

Pick to your strengths, that's what screwed me in Year 11/12. I had three subjects I loved (and excelled at), one I liked but wasn't great at, and it was that subject that held me from getting a 70+ ATAR by the barest of margins.

Yeah 70 plus ATAR. Best subjects are probably English and all the other Humanities.

Spanna_ do whatever you prefer doing at high school, there is always a back way into just about any uni degree. You'll do better at school if you enjoy your subjects.

I got a great TER (which was the 2003 SA equivalent of an ATAR) and got into a great degree, then dropped out of uni twice and now i'm in a great job that I love without ever having gotten a degree. The best advice I can give you is to do stuff you enjoy.
