I know people are sceptical on taking a ruckman early. But if we did go for Hayes at 10. Assume 3-4 years to develop. Would be ready to go when Kruezer is probably finished or close too.

If we don't go for a ruckman in this draft. I worry we won't have a ruckman for what should be our timeline to contended :(

Maybe someone at 30? Callum Coleman-Jones if he is there at 30?

Or you just pick one up through the trade period for a lowly pick in the next year or so. Nankervis went for 46, no reason we can't get a serviceable backup and eventual replacement for Kreuzer without using a first round pick. I'd rather us use pick 10 for something that will help us in the more immediate future (and hopefully for the long term) by drafting another mid (or at least a mid-fwd).

You could have almost made the same argument about SPS, and yet no one here questioned him being in the mix for the top 5 last year.
SPS had good highlights in his draft year, Fogarty's highlights are somewhat underwhelming IMO.

Break a few tackles then kick a high loopy pass 35 meters to no ones advantage in particular.

I don't really see the hype but if SOS calls his name I can't really argue it, I would be surprised if we did get him though.

SOS rated SPS the clear #1 pick a year out, despite his poor U18 season. Fogarty was regarded the #1 selection a year out and had an average U18 season

SPS had a poor season due to injury but stood out in the all stars game before the GF, enough to dispell any worries that he wasn't going to get better.

Last year Fogarty was a big powerful underage player. He hasn't got any bigger or powerful. Done nothing to suggest he is worth a top 10 pick this year. Was underwhelming in the wet in the allstars game before our epic win over *. Big gamble he will be a midfielder as otherwise you are giving up a first rounder for a 3rd tall.

SPS had a much more well rounded game and fits SOS selection criteria perfectly.

Kicking skills excellent off either foot, great tackling, good blend of inside/outside and an amazing footy IQ.

Also very quick by mind, hand or foot.

The Fogarty hype seems based on athleticism and what he could be turned into as opposed to what he actually is at the moment.

Definitely warming to Higgins at 10. Brayshaw seems to be rocketing up the Bigfooty rankings, and can't see him getting past North, Freo or St Kilda.

Has lovely hands, good game sense, kicks goals and has a nice bit of pace. The way he releases and runs on reminds me of Zorko.

Very happy to be taking a second top 10 pick into this draft. There has been plenty of talk about this draft being a relatively weak one, but there looks to be plenty of good prospects here.

I am not overly fussed which way we go - my current vote sits with Brayshaw, with Coffield not too far behind. Stephenson is of real interest too but I don't believe he'll be available.

Realistically on the back of my (very) limited viewing of all these prospects I'd be happy enough with just about any of them.

The only thing I'd rather not see us do here is go tall. Has to be another midfielder or someone with the scope to develop into one. That rules out Brander and Hayes in particular.

It will make for the second time in three years that we'll have two of the top ten being paraded on draft night.
Only team to do so.

With the helpful fact that we now have one of, if not, the best recruiters in the business.

Smiles.

Genuinely one of the more uplifting parts of the year watching our next gen collect their Carlton guernseys.

Particularly when it's Bolts presenting the jumper to Weiters or Harry Mac.

Genuinely up lift him.......

What about Hunter Clark @ 10?

I'm ok with any of Bonar, Constable or Clark. If we go with Fogarty then I would back him in, not a fan for now as previously stated.

Would love Brayshaw but will be gone.

Unusual though that we are not hearing of any academy or father sons for the Top 10. We started with Pick 8 when we took Harry at 10.
