Sydney Olympic Stadium to be demolished and rebuilt

It's a s**t venue, but what awful planning for a stadium to not even last 20 years.
Atleast it still gets regular use, which is more than can be said for most olympic venues. Rio is already dead.

Nuts.

Problem is they built a stadium for the Olympics, and not for use afterwards. Like they built the rail line there as a spur, not going through to somewhere. Planning to save a few million now and cost billions later. Oh well. Typical NSW government.

Do they even need a big stadium? There's probably 3 games a year the NRL get a decent crowd there (75k+), better off building a state of the art 60k stadium with a roof.
That's not really accurate. The Bledisloe test; A league Sydney derby, the arsenal game and the College Gridiron all pretty much filled it. Concerts do as well.

It’s just so hilariously Liberal Party. They have no idea why they’re doing.

“What, new stadiums? For the rugby ball!? They all love the rugby ball! Build them, they’ll all vote for us!!”

“btw, contracts go to these guys...”

They’re so ludicrously out of touch... they take people for complete idiots.

We're so much better at it, we spent $1.1bn or so to not build a road. Typical Sydney, can't even waste money right.

No we avoided ~$10B not to build a road that was signed off on the eve of an election with a negative business case when the opposition was public-ally opposed to it.

NSW Labor could do the same with these stadiums and the state would still be better off

Why can't the 80000 seat stadium be in Sydney where there is actually something to do afterwards other than wait for a train and the smaller stadium be at homebush?
Cos Homebush is actually east of centre of Sydney. Moore Park doesn't have a lot of nightlife andway.
