Or maybe he slid so far because he was severely overrated by 'phantom draft' guys?
Fair call. No one really knows.
But the best info that I have apart from 3 min highlights packages are the guys who watch all these players for a job. No absolutes but better to have someone that they rate than someone they don't.

These threads are always so dumb.

Have some gems from the 2011 thread to temper that raging optimism a bit:
True. No absolutes. But stats back up the fact that higher placer draft picks play more games. Part of this is that they go to lower placed clubs and hence are more likely to play more earlier in their career, but part is obviously because they are probably better players.

Pick 77
How did you rate his 32 disposal game v Carlton in round 23?

Yes. This takes him to 31.

The most cursed number in the clubs history. Majak is just a list filler and the face of the clubs "Hub" program. Unless he shows something out of the blue, I expect he will get paid out at the end of next season.

I was suprised North didnt try and trade itself into another 1st round pick ( 11- 17 range ).
Going into this draft with say ...4 , 15 , 23 has a nice sound to it when rebuilding.
Thoughts Bakes

My top 3 clubs at the draft are:

1. Richmond (they f**king killed it)
2. Lions (added to their midfield, particularly with a match winner in Rayner, and started to rebuild their spine. It's important that they do what they can to keep all of the non academy lads now)
3. Freo (they've added to their midfield, KPF and ruck stocks. It's a rebuild, but they've added to areas of need)
*Hawks worth a mention here too - they got some bloody good value late.

I've excluded Port from consideration in this, but I think we did ok - we grabbed a slider in Hayes who can play as a ruck/KPF, and addressed our need for some speedy outside players. I think we're a KPD short on our list though.

On another note, Collingwood have stuffed up badly. More mids?? Just why?? Who is going to help Moore up forward??

How is LDU purely an inside mid when he averages less clearances than Cerra and Dow, but the second most amount of I50 of the top 5? Yet ran the quickest 20m time.

Odd grouping for an inside mid.

Having known the Rays boys for a number of years, he is mainly an inside midfielder. Only the past 24 months has he developed an outside (ish) game.

I’m not sure about Carlton taking obrian at 10. But most of all tom de koning at 30 was bad imo. He is very meek
TDK stitched up CCJ this year.

Had lacerated kidney so missed most of the year afterwards.

Kicked 9 straight as a bottom ager in a match last year, gave off a couple.

Isn't Moore a defender now too?

Both gresham and higgins willl never make it. Just like lonie. Poor versions of boomer.
Gresham won't make it? Haha thank you for confirming that you have no idea. 2 years into his career and he's already a gun.

I don't mind the Hartung pick for depth and a bit more experience in a rebuild but that was one of the worst 30 possession games in a while. He just doesn't impact the game at all. But for 77 there is not much better out there.

One dilemma with there selections, three inside midfielders and a project ruck. They are quite literally the only things that North Melbourne are well stocked in.

LDU was best available, Walker is great, kudo's to them, but surely Noah Balta would have been a better fit? at 62, surely a kid like Schumacher would have fit better than yet another inside midfielder in Hayden?

Anyways, good luck to Norf. They know what they are doing

I saw what you did here :P

Winners
Richmond , Geelong , StKilda, Bulldogs , West Coast, Fremantle ( solid selections)

Nice work
Hawthorn ( nailed what they had )

Odd
Brisbane ( picks 15 & 18 )

WTF
North Melb ( picks 23 & rest )
Pick 23 was a reach, but any pick after 50 is a free shot anyway, so nothing lost.

A quick inside mid with 62 with the best recorded draft leap ever.
A project ruck.
And Hartung as pure depth.

I rate our later picks more than 23 though, that was a WTF moment.

Fair enough you guys know your list better .
I was expecting Constable's name to be read out at pick 23 .
Not sure you needed another ruckman ?
Anyways good luck :thumbsu:
Daw will be off the list by the end of next year.
Goldy only has a year left on his contract.
Pruess is fine
Jeffries is a raw rookie.

We need a project ruck either this year or next, so I am happy with Xerri and pump a few years of development into him like Pruess.

We did, but it didn't pan out.

The way I see it, Ahern is another top 10 pick for us this year.
