The private schools don't need to they have their own comp

Sacred heart
Saints
PAC
Rostrevor
St Mick's
Immanuel
Scotch
CBC

They host each other with lunch provided for the supporters

They don't want or need the rif raf

It's a little bit of a prestigious circle which is why they pay high profile coaches give out scholarships and want to beat their fellow private schools they could invite Henley High who have a great program but why would they do that

To be part of the best competition avaliable.

BlackFriars? Scotch? Trinity?
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Seriously?
Why not add CBC or Westminster or any of the other Division 2 school while your at it?? Good lord.

I don't know. It was just an idea but those elite w***ers wouldn't want the bottom feeders from the slums socialising with them.

You can’t develop what isn’t there. To say Central has a great zone isn’t true. Next to no talent coming through. Wouldn’t mind betting participation in AFL football in the zone is way down on the past. It seems like every lad around my boys age plays soccer and has no interest in playing AFL.

Is football a socioeconomic thing the majority of draftees are coming from Private schools yet there are less students at private schools

Only 70 kids were drafted yesterday Australia wide we are but 7% of the population

Victoria is 30% of the population but produces over 50% of the draft pool.
SA kids do not have the correct development pathways, just as your little stat shows when compared to Vic.

Please. Last I heard North Adelaide only had something like 15 high schools in their Zone. They however have done better than Centrals.

But no one can explain that the majority of players are being drafted from private schools who do not allow their students to play when and where they want

So please explain how a tac comp will work with this majority of elite talent

No one seems to have an answer

But more than happy to take money from AFL clubs whenever they get the opportunity.
What money do they get from AFL clubs exactly?
They get development grants, funding and the odd tip in for funding amenity upgrades from the AFL but that is it.
On the flip side AFL clubs are more than happy to poach mature age players and officials from SANFL clubs at no recompense.
As an example, if Sturt wanted to get Jonno Beech or Brett Eddy they’d be paying a $30k transfer fee for each.

So the op has called out the clubs by naming none ?? Agree that SANFL could do more in terms of development but there’s not much difference between them all at the moment in terms of producing afl talent

Because, that is obviously the best football development pathway in the state at the moment. I don't deny that the best chance you have to become an AFL player from SA is to come through one of those 2 or 3 top private schools. It seems to have been that way for some time. But this also proves the benefits of having a more professional development systems for young players. Apply an even better level of development system to an even broader range of kids and I would expect us to produce more AFL standard players.

If the private schools dont want to be part of it then so be it. Let the TAC team be made up of kids that aren't in those private schools. Whether or not the private schools participate really shouldn't stop us from having a TAC side if the AFL is funding it.

So with the 2 billion they are receiving for TV rights why won't they fund it maybe the players could give up a little on their demands or clubs don't take as much distributorion or maybe this Australian v Ireland game those funds could have been used or not invest in the AFLW

Priorities

It's bloody obvious they don't want to

There are private schools in Victoria

They don't exist to develop juniors for AFL.
Not entirely, their goal is SANFL premierships. But producing and developing quality footballers should be a very big part of what they do, and historically (ie when it was benefitting them with premierships) it is what they’ve done.

I think recently SANFL clubs have lost their way because they see their best players being taken so they don’t put quite as much emphasis on development. This needs to change. Producing AFL quality juniors benefits everybody, including the SANFL clubs. They lose a very good player yes, but that very good player squeezes out someone from an AFL club who returns to the SANFL and plays some good footy.

I always thought the players ahould give back. After a player is in the afl for 5 years, 2 or 3 percent of the players wage should go the the league he came from. I dont mean sanfl, i mean his junior clubs league. There fore it can grow the game. Money in the afl is crazy and the players association should organise it instead of just asking for more and more money ever year

I am fully aware of how they dictate to their students here in SA but not Vic

Pretty sure there used to be something like that in place. The grassroots club would get money for a player drafted and more if they reached certain milestones (ie 100 games).

Exactly the same as SA, Private School footy is 1st priority.
