MileraAh no they didn't
They said Gibson helps cover smith by being able to play wing and allowing others to shuffle back ( no doubt they are thinking Mackay Douglas and Seedsman)

Yep meant him too but just didn't type it !Milera
Nah, I want our midfield to kill it, with Gibbs in we have 4 A graders if Brad kicks on, that’s right up there with the best in the comp.Yep meant him too but just didn't type it !
Hope he's main one
Gibbs is the other one
Wouldn't mind them trialling rotating Gibbs Sloane and B crouch off half back . They would all rack up possessions and it may develop Brads kicking and outside game
And no they mainly play mid but instead of rotating so much bench time
Ah no they didn't

Well then I can't say I agree and will be very worried heading into round one if we are going to be playing him back there. He's never played HBF for North, and he has 0 attributes that suggest he should be playing there.
IMO Gibson should really only be depth. Im going to be pretty honest come round 1 if he's in the side while we have talented and exciting youngsters hacking it out in the SANFL.
Gibson is a slow, average player that tries hard and runs lots. We have far more skilled and multi-dimensional players on our list.
What the Colonel is saying is just what AFC said he was being recruited for at draft time.
Nope . Heard Don talk about it and he said Gibson with his wing and mid ability frees up others . Remember it clear as dayYou’re putting extra words in their mouth to suit
Gibson will play in smiths role
I'm not convinced he is but I'm hoping and Don isn't sillyNah, I want our midfield to kill it, with Gibbs in we have 4 A graders if Brad kicks on, that’s right up there with the best in the comp.
Edit just read your last line.
I wonder if Milera is being considered at HB by the club? Someone ring Pykey.

Have also heard second hand that he was enticing due to his ability to tag
You seem to be completely unaware how good a player Gibson has been?????
He was delisted this year, surprisingly, because of age and Norths need to rejuvenate their age profile
Gibson has been one of North’s top top players in recent years, including 2017.
I also note Gibson was so slow, Sloane couldn’t run away from him![]()
How good of a player Gibson is? Right.....
Since when did Gibson become such a superstar? One of North's top players? Have you seen their list, there isnt much competition there whatsoever. All I see is a relatively slow (Sloane isnt quick either), old midfielder who can run all day, but doesnt have any other outstanding quality. He's an very average kick of the football. I wouldn't put him anywhere near the good category, he burns it way too often. He's a decent mark of the footy I guess, but that's really scraping the barrel.
Gibson is a slow, mediocre old midfielder who brings nothing to the table, other than an experienced depth option.
We shouldn't be tagging, and we shouldn't be playing Gibson in front of our talented kids. That's just like shooting yourself in both feet.
Also Gibson isnt playing half back. Pyke can't be THAT dumb.
Oh... you’re one of those types
Ignore it is
I know what I heard but until I produce the quotes or he lines up on a half back flank at season proper it's a watch this spaceWe can all remember what we want to hear after the event, particularly if our argument requires additional invention to support it
The club did not say all those things at all. It was commented on at the the time, and the contemporaneous accounts (which I recall well) did not include the extra mayo
Nor did the actual comments from Ben Hart

My impression of the situation is that he's not a good enough kick to play at half back but my impression isn't the argument
He brings professionalism experience endurance and tagging ability but I'm with you - he's not playing half backHow good of a player Gibson is? Right.....

I fear he's been picked up purely so that we don't have to resort to playing our recent drafteesHe brings professionalism experience endurance and tagging ability but I'm with you - he's not playing half back
Just because he is not in your best 22, it doesn't mean that the club feels the same way.I've just never rated Gibson all that highly and neither has the most of the competition, it's as simple as that. He's been super consistent and that's about it.
At 31 years of age I really don't expect him to be coming here and changing his ways now.
He's nowhere my 22 and I don't see any reason why he should be, unless we cop injuries.
Just because he is not in your best 22, it doesn't mean that the club feels the same way.
There is absolutely NO other reason why the club would be recruiting a 31 year old midfielder who is not a star but is ultra consistent role player unless they obviously felt he is capable of performing the role NOW. Not provide depth, not to prop up the SANFL team but help the AFL side right away.
You might not like the move but it doesn't make it any less relevant because YOU think he is not good enough. There have been more than a few 200 game players at our club for whom this board thought they were shit.
Gibson was brought in for a specific role. IMHO, he has been brought in specifically as a tagger and someone who provides immediate depth to the midfield brigade. This frees up Riley Knight to play mostly as a forward to offset the loss of Cameron in terms of defensive pressure inside 50. We rely heavily on defensive pressure inside 50 and repeat entries that it creates. This season gone, we are the highest ranked team in terms of scoring from turnovers. Its the staple of our game plan.

Not sure re that . All things going well I think he will mainly play sanflI fear he's been picked up purely so that we don't have to resort to playing our recent draftees
All things going v well with development I think he plays sanflDo we really need a tagging player? Like honestly? We are such an attacking side, again I just don’t like the idea and how it suits us.
Our youngsters have so much more to offer in so many more areas, and yet we are going to plonk this 31 year old on the field.
I’ll happily concede that I was wrong if this all works out, I just really don’t like the idea to begin with.
Yep . I think if he plays it will be in midfield when he doesJust because he is not in your best 22, it doesn't mean that the club feels the same way.
