How do you fix rugby in Australia?

Some good news, back in October, Victorian Government and ARU but together a deal to have 6 major Wallabies test over the next 8 years. Starting with Ireland next year, All Blacks in 2020 and Lions in 2025. As well as some funding for lower levels.

Another article the Rebels have dropped tickets $15 for adults and $6 for kids.
Also hints (possibly) at All Blacks and Lions being at the MCG.

My thoughts on the Wallabies test matches.

In a World Cup year, we will have 3 home tests as part of the RC. Those test matches should be played in Sydney, Brisbane and either Melbourne or Perth. 2019 has Perth Locked in.

The other 3 years, there should be between 6 to 8 tests. Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide all get a test match. The remaining test(s) are rotated between Canberra, Newcastle, Gold Coast, 2nd Sydney test or 2nd Brisbane test. Hell even with this new Townsville Stadium, lock one down for 2020 or whenever it opens.

This would've been on the table months before October.

Probably about the time the ARU were doing dodgy backroom deals to keep the Rebels in SR.

Victorian Government around Easter (when the infamous 48 to 72 hours statement was made) made it clear that any funding via Victoria Major Events for the future Tests agreed between the State and the ARU in 2016 wouldn't be signed if the Rebels were cut. The WA government was stuck with the 2019 Test vs the All Blacks already been signed (but not without the ARU already asking for forward payments) and didn't have the same card to pull. The Victorian Government was open in what they were doing in that regard.

So we're 'back'. Sort of.

Force will replace the Perth Spirit in the NRC, but that's a second tier comp that runs after SR. Wessels, DHP etc. have already signed for the Rebels and Twiggy's IPRC won't kick off for another year if ever.

Glad the ARU saw sense to hand back what wasn't theirs and allows the Force to have a life in some form next year and beyond.

What I find interesting is this

But RugbyWA still owes the WA government $1.14 million — a debt the government has agreed to put on hold for two years.

Funny how the ARU had to wave their debt and if they didn't it was further proof that they are scum but the WA government just continue to put their debt on hold and this debt is the one that brought the Force/RugbyWA into the "alliance agreement" with the ARU in the first place and put the Force into the gun. If there was a debt that should of be waved its that one. When are questions going to be asked over West of your own government and their actions in all this?

Also to top off my post spree, the ARU (yes I will still call them that) will name Raelene Castle as their new CEO as soon as tomorrow

https://www.foxsports.com.au/rugby/...r/news-story/7b42f7619cd938e75ef35e9957bef666

In taking the position, she is set to become the first female to take on a chief executive position of any Australian football code.

Castle, born in Wagga but would identify herself as a New Zealander, edged out former Wallabies captain Phil Kearns for the position.

Rugby Australia declined to comment on Monday night, but an announcement is expected as early as Tuesday afternoon.

The former Canterbury Bulldogs and Netball New Zealand boss will have to draw upon all her administrative experience to dig Australian rugby off the ground.

Was the early favourite, comes from a Rugby League background and is a Kiwi (those two will make this appointment fun). But with the names that had been tipped this is a strong appointment considering how ****ed Rugby is in Australia. As always her success will be how she handles the Boards of NSW (Sydney) and Queensland (Brisbane) and their club interests. Hopefully she has a flight to Perth booked to meet Twiggy before Christmas as well.

Bloody hell, wish we'd had $15 tickets when the Force were running around. Would've taken more mates with me to the general admin

Stop playing the All Blacks in the first 2 games. Mix it up. Play the Pumas or Boks. Get a win and some confidence, before taking on the kiwis.

Also learn how to scrum, run proper line outs, pass and cover defence. A bit of speed to match them wouldn't hurt either.

Union in Australia is dying.

Rooted at grass/club level, has been for years.

AFL now enroaching on the heartlands with money and development pathways, League too.
Union was strong in the 90s when league had the superleague issue and soccer was a mess

Play the all blacks at their own game, slow the play of the ball down, maul over them and keep them wide.
The all blacks should of been carded multiple times before they scored the try just before half time but they never were, like the other hundred times before.
All blacks are protected and always get away with the things that other sides don’t.

The RugbyAU made a mistake not going with a true Australian Club League years ago when they went professional.
It should have been:
1 ACT side -
5 NSW sides -
Northern Sydney -- combine Manly, Warringah, Gordon and Northern.
Sydney -- combine Eastern, Randwick and Uni.
West Sydney -- combine Eastwood, Penrith, West Harbour and Parramatta.
Central Coast Hunters -- Gosford, Central Coast and Newcastle Hunter Valley
Southern Districts -- Include the current Southern Districts and Illawarra
4 QLD sides -
West Brisbane -- Wests, Uni, GPS, Ipswich and Toowoomba
Northern Brisbane -- Brothers, Easts, Norths and Sunshine Coast
Gold Coast - South Brisbane -- Bond Uni, Souths and Sunnybank
Country Queensland -- Cairns, Mackay, Rockhampton, Townsville
1 SA side -
1 TAS side -
1 VIC side -
1 WA side -

14 teams that encompass the Australian Continent.
