I don't think we are allowed to keep those guys longer than a year anyway.

I wonder if we've got anyone lined up for those two spots? Port already nabbed one bloke from the GC academy and another from the Bendigo Pioneers.
No doubt we would.

I think we can keep guys on for 2 years, a few blokes have done

Who is approaching retirement age in the next few years?

Dougy?
DMac?
Jacobs?
Our oldest players are...
Eddie Betts, DOB 26/11/1986, contracted until 2020
Richard Douglas, 6/2/1987, 2018
Sam Jacobs, 10/4/1988, 2019
David Mackay, 25/7/1988, 2018
Josh Jenkins, 8/2/1989, 2021
Andy Otten, 15/5/1989, 2018
Kyle Cheney, 25/8/1989, 2018

Otten & Cheney probably won't be getting new contracts for 2019. Mackay's chances are probably 50/50. Any one of these 3 could end up doing that SANFL role in 2019, provided that's what they want to do.

I thought of Eddie and JJ, but they have long contracts. The 3 you suggest are probably on the money.

I was looking at Glenelg's membership structure the other day and it's no surprise why they're in a financial mess.

Who in the hell is going to pay $80 for a three game membership when it only costs you $45 to pay for three games at the gate ?
But you get a sticker!

Think our SANFL side can look quite strong this year (if our 22 stays out on the park of course). Obviously dependant on how I see our AFL 22.

Cheney Otten L. Murphy
McPherson Dear Milera
Gibson CEY Mackay
Fogarty Himmelberg Hampton
Jarman Hunter Davis

ROB Poholke Wilson

J. Edwards, Siggy + 2 top ups.

Really like the look of that back 6, its nice and balanced.

You might want to look at most other clubs offering similar 3 or 5 day packages or buy a central districts pet memebersip gee what a bargain

It's essentially a membership + 3 games, and all the money goes to the club.

The die hards that will want to support the club but can only get to a couple of games will snap it up.

Home game/Full season ticket memberships are more value for money.

BTW there were several years in the 2000's at Footy Park where Crows memberships were dearer than 11 x daily tickets too.

The Crows are participating in Fast Footy

While it looks like a better alternative to AFLX, it also appears that the SANFL are coming up with the idea on the fly. Initially the game would end (and a bonus point earned) once a team scores 50 points. That seems to have been dropped as a rule now.

not if 2017 was anything to go by! I hope I'm wrong
What are you smoking? Otten was only ever selected as a replacement for one of the others.

R1-2: Replaced Lever
R3-5: Replaced Jenkins
R6-14: Replaced McGovern
** R15: Not selected, as all "first choice" were available
R16-17: Replaced Hartigan. Keath was Hartigan's replacement for R20-22, after Otten's dismal failure in R19 vs Collingwood.
R18-19: Replaced Lever.
** R20-QF: Dropped, as Keath was now preferred as the replacement tall defender, and none of the tall forwards were MIA
SF-GF: Replaced McGovern

If/when all of our first choice talls were available (Walker, JJ, McGovern, Talia, Lever, Hartigan), then Otten didn't make it off the emergency list. Keath overtook him as the replacement tall defender from R20 onwards.

The only way he plays a senior game in 2018 is if other players are injured, as was the case in 2017. He is not "best 22", but he may find himself in the "best available 22".

Lever is gone, and Keath/Cheney/Doedee will (hopefully) be his permanent replacement. Fingers crossed the club has learned its lesson, and Otten is never again used to replace the more mobile McGovern.
