The what if thread

What if Gary snr had stayed at Hawthorn and become as good a player with us as he was with Geelong, and then we got jnr as a father/son?

Hawthorn probably would have dominated the 80's and would have been pretty successful in the last decade too. Oh...

Essendon fans will probably call me stupid but to go with the out of the box suggestions what if the 2000 GF was played with the rules of 2017? I reckon that young Melbourne side would have had a chance against the bombers but as was the way footy was played back then they just belted us into submission with Brad Green and Troy Simmons getting taking out illegally.

Similarly what if you drafted Selwood instead of Thorp in 2006?

Drafting what ifs are also fun.

What if the 2 year rule was in place for priority picks in 2004 ? Hawks get one of Franklin or Roughie - Dogs have the next pick....

What if Warren Tredrea was a born & bred Victorian that played for a Victorian club?

How highly would he have (rightfully) been rated then?

Behind Riewoldt. In the Pav, Richo, Brown group of "best since Carey," at the top of that second group probably.

So, basically, exactly where he's rated now.

What if the handover never happens?

What if Tarrant is paid an obvious free at one end in front of goal instead of Lynch getting a soft call up the other end in the 02 GF? Reckon if the Pies got another with momentum and gone 12+ momentum would've meant we ran away with it.

What if Hawkins gets paid a point in 09 and/or Schnider gets the free?

What if that Port player kicks the goal with 90 seconds left in the 14 PF to put Port in front?

What if the Freo player didn't botch that kick across goal in the last/made the most of early momentum in the 15PF? Could Freo have continued to get back in it/built a big enough lead to shut Hawthorn out?

What if Freo didn't give that goal up to Gunston end of the 3rd and rolled on with a 1 on 1 in the 13 GF?

if lucas hadnt gone nuts in last quarter of rnd 22 in 07

- wc finish 2nd on % and host port instead of other way
- more then likely win and cousins not do hammy
- week off to freshen up then play north at home in prelim instead of extra time final and run out of legs
- play geelong in their 3rd grand final in a row and have judd fresher considering week off and light prelim vs north. grand final hardened team vs cats probably wouldnt of been 117
Cats wouldn’t have won.
