Really excited about both Higgins and Specially Balta , The other clubs will be 'BLEEDING' If these 2 boys kill it and become Guns

Higgins , Coleman-Jones , Balta , Naish , Miller .................... Think we have done exceptionally well with the mix
I agree. It gives you the impression we are finally building some depth that we just might be able to not only be competitive but have a real crack.....................hang on a minute

Carlspoon will be interesting round 1. Reckon they are gonna put their whole preseason plans into beating us as they know they're unlikely to win any other games this year except maybe against norf. May as well study us all summer and try to get a win on the premiers so they can bring it up all year while losing every other game. need to go hard straight up and pump the spooners

Dimma on the 'Ask the Coach' video uploaded to the RFC site is suggesting Cotchin will spend more time forward this year. That tells me that there must be a few impressing in the Midfield group this pre-season. Graham is a given to spend more time in there, who would the others be that could do some more heavy lifting in the middle? I haven't heard anything but maybe Higgins is tracking better than we think and the club are smartly keeping quiet on him to lessen any great expectations? Be interesting if he gets a jumper round one. Of the others pressing for midfield time this year I think Lloyd might surprise a few as well. Finished the season dominating in the VFL and we know he can play forward as well (Unlike Miles who I think might be done). Depth.

If they get within 50 I'll jump off level 4 nude.

I reckon you're bang on with Lloyd, looks to have dropped alot of weight and has been with the mids all pre season

In the Yellow & Black Book it mentioned that in his exit interview the one piece of advice from the coaches was that he should be more damaging forward. Cotch agreed saying most of his goals were as a mid and that he wanted to be more like dusty and win one on ones forward

Cotch's game is highly taxing. If he can get some cover in the midfield, I think he can be damaging up forward and really damaging in bursts through the midfield. Hopefully that prolongs his career.

Brent Harvey should be worried TBH. :D

Cotch is definitely capable of being a dangerous forward albeit not in Dusty’s class who can forget his goal against the Cats spinning out of the pack

They should NOT be risking the players by letting them try extreme sports intended only for men of great courage and strength!!

It's where the game is going. Give me Cotchin upfront any day over a 200cm KPF.
Same as Ablett and same as Danger or Fyfe if any of these players stayed 100% forward I bet bar Franklin, Kennedy and Daniher they would be the next most goals kicked.

The other thing is Power forwards cost too much. You could have 2 elite mids for the same price as a strong power forward.

Mids, Mids and more Mids.

Yep, especially 6'plus mids who can take a mark.
Josh Caddy springs to mind.

Cotch isn't a great set shot - but on the run or out of a pack where he doesn't over think it he's gold

In Y&B, at the end bit on Cotch's final interview with the coaching group, they talked about him moving forward more. So, it's a longer term plan to increase out forward firepower whilst reducing Cotch's workload in the middle. Sort of opens up 50% of a spot in the guts. Reckon Conca, Lloyd and Higgiins wil be first cabs of the rank. I love the fact that there are multiple players that can fill in the role if needed.

Chatted to the coaches in Bendigo during their visit ..... doubt we will be seeing any of Balta, CCJ, or Miller anytime early in the season, or mid-season and hinted we'd persist with Jack as the sole key forward, Townsend and Caddy as the mid-size options, along with Rioli (when fit), Castagna and Butler. I get the feeling Lloyd figures int the plan somewhere and will probably be the guy who gets the gig in round one with Rioli sidelined, with Menadue next most likely and foremost in the coaches' thoughts.
Might be smoke and mirrors, but Higgins didn't rate too many mentions among many.
I don't see much change unless injuries hit. Time will tell if that's a good or bad thing.
