A whisper I've heard is that out of all our young talent, SPS is the one rated most highly. Which makes my mouth water since personally I have Cripps and Charlie ahead of him. (Both on potential and output to date)
Don't care what order they come in just happy the three of them play for Carlton.

Probably not that surprising? Lobbe has shown some capacity to play at AFL level, whereas I don't think Phillips has done that yet...
I think Phillips is pretty good as a standardised ruckman (hit-outs) but unfortunately his 'around the ground' game is basically non-existent. Although he had a pretty good year at VFL level, when compared to Kreuzer and the year he had, I see him as very much a back up who probably won't play at all for the seniors.
Yes, he showed signs and even dominated in the VFL before being injured but unfortunately I don't see him as being able to transition that form to AFL.

From vision I have witnessed of Lobbe he has quite a few similar traits to Phillips in his ruck work and strength but I feel he is much more competent in his overhead marking. I don't have any stats to back this up so please feel free to disagree.

In short, they both provide back up for Kreuzer and should at the very least make Northern's midfield brigade look pretty damn good.

I thought Phillips is a good mark. Certainly a nice long kick too. Issue with him around the ground is that he doesn't seem to get in enough of the right places to impact the game, though I can't remember when he's had the same opportunity to solo ruck like Kreuz regularly has. Phillips hasn't given me the impression he is particularly damaging with ball in hand anyway, but not many rucks are.

Phillips is a stop gap until something better comes along.

Had plenty of opportunity .... not flash around the ground, so you are carrying a ruckman only, very very one dimensional.

Really? Has had one senior year getting games in 2016. Missed two full seasons due to injury around that. He's played 30 games and turns 27 in July. Getting a bit old now to be carried in a team that doesn't necessarily need him, but has barely played through injury.

Due diligence was an abject faulire there, although he didn't cost much. But exactly what has he offered in the 2 years he has been here?

16 games in 2016 @ 6.8 disposals a game ........
1 game in 2017

Injuries are, as we know a part of any professional sport, however, some atheletes are more predisposed than others to constant set backs.

Phillips just needs a crack at it with his body. I think once he gets fitter (pending no injuries) he could be a serviceable ruck. We won't be talking about him in five years time but if lobbe and Kruezer go down I'm happy with him as a back up

I think TDK will fill that role ... Krooz, Lobbe, TDK .. Phillips to Bullants.

We didnt drop a Pick 30 on someone that SOS would think would bust .....

True, but it might be 5 years before TDK is a best-22 regular.

Tall guys something something take time something something

Sam Hayes was touted as the best available ruckman in the draft and he was available to us at pick 30 - but went to Port at 47.
I think they see him as a forward first.

OVERVIEW

Sam Hayes jumped into the spotlight in the 2016 NAB AFL Under 18 Championships, booting three goals against the Allies in front of a crowd at Etihad Stadium. 12 months later, the Eastern Ranges tall is now a dual Under 18 All-Australian, after averaging 14.5 disposals and 16.8 hitouts in the 2017 carnival. Hayes has shown he can play as a key position forward, but has most of his tricks in the ruck where he is the clear best ruckman in the 2017 AFL Draft pool. Hayes is a strong mark overhead and wins most the hitouts, but will need to improve his running and endurance to become a dominant ruckman at the AFL level.

Tom De Koning’s efforts in the ruck for Dandenong this year have been far from unnoticed. Standing at over two metres tall, De Koning dominates his opposition in the air. He makes for an excellent option through the centre passage and in the forward line. Though with Riley D’Arcy dominating Dandenong’s forward, De Koning’s skillset is often utilised more freely throughout the ground. You will find him working more as an outside midfielder as he is usually the best player to hit up to get the ball moving. Due to his height and athleticism, he is often looked at with great interest due to the inherent value of ruckmen and tall forwards, but he has a number of improvements he still has to continue working on such as his overhead marking and aggression.

Mobile, agile ruckman ... Krooz MkII

Geez, hard to work out what you're trying to say in that last sentence!
Over the next few days I'll go through my dictionary in the hope of finding suitable substitute words for those 4 somethings.
