I went to 3 different sources that had him list as 6'6, 199cm and 200cm
You wouldn't want another one like him, which is probably why they let go Trengove.
If Day can be this guy for the Suns, it could be a 2 to 3 goal advantage.
Day and Westhoff are very different in my opinion. Wright would be closest given he's a fantastic runner but still different (less tank and more natural skill).

Charlie Ballard might develop (and grow) into a Westhoff type?
Ballard's a dark horse right now, but he could turn out to be a wildcard like Westhoff. Me likey, without having seen much of him.
Any updates from this morning's NEAFL practice match?

Can we have our pick 2 back for Weller. We are two pre season games into his Suns campaign and I’m thinking he will be a fringe player for most of the year

I think the answer will be a resounding NO from the cockers

OK Shaq, you've got your Pick 2 back, now who would you take instead.......not 1 of the top 6 draft picks have as many possessions as Weller so far in 2 JLT games, although Brayshaw has half a game to go......and that's all we can go on at this point in time....of course the newbies will all improve no doubt, but I believe Weller will too, and he's already got 40+ games under his belt, hasn't missed a game in 2 years, and wants to play for the Suns....
Anyway I'm glad he's at The Suns....

He was mighty impressive today IMO. 20 touches and had some key possessions towards the end of the game when Brisbane were pushing. He was just so classy with the ball in hand and really showed it at times.

He is never going to be getting 30+ disposals, but he doesn't need to.

20 classy effective touches over 35 scrappy handballs everyday.

What I like about Lachie is that he almost always manages to get an effective kick or handball away when tackled. Quite impressive for a little bloke.
I think when we start to see him get more uncontested disposals is when we’ll see the real benefits of recruiting him...classy.

In fairness possessions in modern football are meaningless most of them are 1, 2 handballs that go no where and I would be worried if a 3rd year player wasn’t getting more touches then a first year player anyway. However trading pick two for a player who isn’t a superstar or really doesn’t have superstar talent is sickening. Just another poor move by this club.

Pick 2 for someone who wants to be at the club
Who will probably play for another 10 years
Who still has only played 47 games

I think you’ve got to give him a bit more of a chance! He’s played 2 JLT games which one was in a mudfest he’s come into a completely different game plan/style also

Ehhh everyone talks up draft picks like they are guaranteed superstars.

For every Cotchin, there is a Kozi.
For every Natinui, there is a Trengove
For every Coniglio, there is a Jon 'o' Rourke

And they are just the pick 2's.

For 2 we got a proven commodity who hasn't missed a game in 2 years, is so skilled with the ball and wants to play for this club. If he goes on to play 200 games for us, it is a pick well spent IMO. On top, we also got a player in Ballard who could be absolutely anything from trading pick 2. If we left Weller hanging till next year, Brisbane could come in and make an offer. He wasn't guaranteed to stick around for 12 months.

We defiantly overpaid but people making out we just passed on the next Nathan Buckley or Jason Akermanis need to take a deep breath and just let the season play out.

The bookies and the Casino must love you
All on red!!!!!
We've had enough high pick busts over the past decade to make me feel more than comfortable picking up a likely 200 game player committed to the cause

Fremantle did the same with McPharlin and Croad and how well did that turn out for them?

Of course we (the club) over-paid.

Freo had extra extra extra bargaining power last year (our poor season, contracted player, need to field a team that would convince players to stay).

And Freo used it well.

I hate the price and thought we got suckered, but only two options.
Continue to moan about the price or move on.

I am trying to move on.

...first off I will pick the worst player out of Brayshaw, Dow, LDU and Cerra and assume we took them.

Pretty sure if you asked most Freo fans whether Mcpharlin alone was worth a first rounder given the service he ended up giving the club they'd say yes, and do the trade every day of the week. He was super important for Freo for a long time.

This
He wasn't worth pick 2 to anyone but us
I was livid at the time but in retrospect understand why it happened and have come to terms with it

First of all, it is going to be a realllllly long year if we continue to judge how good/bad a deal this was every week, in Lachie's first year at the club, as a 21year old.

Could still end up a bargain compared to what we were going to give up though, depending on how the Eagles go this year. Imagine if the Eagles crash and burn and we get a top 6 pick from them in this "SUPER DRAFT!!!!!" and get a Lukoscious (sp.), Rankine, Hill, King x2, Rozee, Walsh (or even 2 with our own pick as well. *Obviously alot can still happen with this draft class between now and the draft though.

Although, I will say that it has apparently always been one of Wellers goals to play for the Suns at some point in his career, so he most likely would have been there for us at the end of this year as well.

My question is why wait one season.
