My YouTube channel has just made a video article of sorts comparing the youth of both sides. I've attached a poll, but hopefully you enjoy the video (and sling us a cheeky 'subscribe'). Cheers.

West Coast

B: Nelson - Barrass - Watson
HB: Cole - Rotham - Duggan
C: Venables - Sheed - Petrucelle
HF: Partington - Brander - Waterman
F: L.Ryan - O.Allen - Rioli
R: Olango - Ainsworth - H. Brayshaw
Int: M.Allen - Burrows - Karpany - Bayok - England - Mutimer

Fremantle

B: Logue - Pearce - L.Ryan
HB: Hughes - Cox - Blakely
C: Cerra - A.Brayshaw - Tucker
HF: Langdon - Apeness - McCarthy
F: Giro - Dixon - Nyhuis
R: Darcy - Banfield - North
Int: Duman - Strnadica - Jones - Crowden - Switkowski - Grey - Meek

Right now surely the answer has to be Fremantle. Will be interesting to see whether that remains the case at the end of this year, we haven't yet seen a lot of the West Coast kids but that will surely change this season.

A number of raw, unproven talents that could go either way for WC that could push them closer to Freo's in this analysis in 12-24 months time. For instance, personally I think Venables could be the second best player on the field ^, behind Andrew Brayshaw.

What do you reckon now?

Both sides have come a fair way since the video was made actually. Cerra, Cox & Brayshaw look like elite talents and have obviously done a good job putting time into some solid potential role players in Banfield, Crowden and perhaps Giro. Pearce is also enjoying a break out season.

WC haven’t got as much game time into their elite talents such as Venables and Brander as perhaps they’d have ideally liked, but Rioli and to a lesser extent Ryan are establishing themselves slowly as important players. Sheed is frustratingly up and down with his best quite good and his worst pretty bad.

I wouldn’t adjust my conclusion that Fremantle have the better under 23 side although I think WC have made up a little ground with their push to give youth games, something they actively avoided last year.

Upon reading that again I suspect you might have specifically meant who is the most talented player haha.

I’ll have a crack at a top five, for the sake of it.

1) Cerra
2) Brayshaw
3) Brander
4) Venables
5) Cox

(Decided not to include Pearce in this particular list as he is fairly established now)

It wasnt a well structured post, but I was only asking for your opinion as it was your thread. The first reply was exactly what I was looking for :thumbsu:
