I'm still not sure what to make of CEY though.
I’ve put a line through him.

He’s competitive, gets himself in the right spots, but his decision making is putrid. If he hasn’t learnt this by now I can’t see him fixing it.

-WTF does Pyke keep selecting McKay, Douglas, Jenkins.

-Atkins – Jericho-like

-Thankfully we wont have to sit through another insipid performance from this team on the last day in Sept. Won't make the top 4.

-Betts - Finished
Hahahaha Mackay played well

Yes we are in strife for small forwards that provide pressure hence I can't believe I got poo pood all last year for talking up Charlie's worth

Over reaction by the way . 2 goal loss and we are miles off our best

Overreaction is Mikes speciality.

I hope we persist with Murphy, but will understand if we send him back as he looked done. We keep losing midfielders so my idea of running Sloane etc through there will have to wait.

I just can’t let Atkins go. He has the potential to be very good player but just doesn’t go in. Some of his efforts or lack of in the last quarter were really poor.

The problem is our lack of alternatives means he gets to coast through.

We badly need to target some running players this year.

I wasn’t confident about the game all week. What worries me was how putrid we played and couldn’t keep the lead after 3/4 time when it was almost ours. It reminded me of the Crows of old.

Somebody please restore my faith because right now I am thinking it’s going to be a long season

For all Mackay cops, he puts in a great deal more

Yes. McGovern was responsible for the start of the last-quarter onslaught. He flew for a speccy on HFF-wing, completely unnecessarily, taking himself out of the play, and the ball was whisked down the other end.

Yep, took him and Fogarty out of the play, ball fell to McGoverns direct opponent and in seconds Essendon were kicking for goal. Felt like a turning point at the time and sadly it was.

Anyone piling on Mackay tonight is truly biased.

He played his role.

But what's the point of having him in the side when he has the pyhsical presence of a 12 year old. Because of his size he will always be ineffective in finals. What he does in the minor round is totally irrelevant. We need to build a team who can win a GF.

Good morning little fella. Should you really be posting in a thread where grown ups are talking about football. There's a superhero thread in the Children Forum.

After last night our depth looks really shakey now,

CEY, Hampton - not up to this standard.
Betts, Douglas, McKay - best is past them (Did McKay have a "best")
Jenkins, Atkins - too soft to have a consistent impact at this level.

We have 2 1st rounders with weapons we could use sitting on sidelines , we need them to develop fast

And also might need to use trade period and keep adding in draft

Yep. Bring them in. Milera, McPherson (future gun), Poholke, Gallucci, Dear and Himmelberg must be given a decent go this year. We can't keep going to finals and failing with the same players.

I have seen nothing in Hampton or CEY which makes me think they will even be average players at this level. Rule a line and try others.

I’m a fan of Atkins usually, but what he dished up tonight was pathetic. The hope was that, as he matured and after another preseason, he might have been able to eliminate this type of game from his repertoire, unfortunately it seems to be coming only more and more frequent.
I’ve been an Atkins fan over the journey so far, but have a big question mark over his effort now. Is he the kind of guy that is content just being an AFL player?

As for Jenkins, he just doesn’t seem like the kind of player who wins you matches, and he never imposes himself physically. He’ll kick goals when we’re on top, but there’s not much value in that.

CEY I’m hoping is just rusty after a year out.
