Thoughts are that is a victim mindset!

Sitting there complaining about your own lot instead of doing something about it.

Sure the league has to play their role in ensuring some equality across each division so their is no blowouts but seriously throwing in the towel at half time because you are getting beaten in junior match would have much greater impact on the kids than rolling up your sleeves and trying to coach them.

My other point on this is - of the talented Abers home grown players who played on Saturday against Pascoe Vale across 1's and 2's all of them played in the first or second team throughout our junior program for the majority of their junior career.

Putting a cap on clubs would lead to less participation of our great game than equality IMO.

I rehash what I have said before also - invest in your people, your community, your club, your program and the culture of your club don't sit back and play the victim that Abers and Keilor and Greenvale and Strathmore and Marbi and Hillside have the run of the green because they have more teams across divisions.

Look deeper and try and understand WHY these programs are working and WHY these clubs have 70% or more of their own talent playing senior footy today.

The other carry on about unfairness in point deductions on "non home grown" players is a cop out also - why shouldn't we be rewarded if we retain the likes of Craven, Cubillo, Davis, Allan, Johns, Blackwell, Reimers, Hislop x 3? Long standing loyal club people not just footballers!! Try and understand it first before canning it.

Sure some keyboard warriors will sit back and fire garbage back and I wish you all the best of luck with that!! I really do hope it leads to a life of smiles!!

Enjoy your 4 team competition in 5 years.

Enjoy your Barcelona vs Real Madrid or Celtic vs Rangers league.

I prefer the old EDFL where local clubs were truly local. What it is now and what its becoming isn't what I fell in love with.

Puff, not quite sure why this whole reply is directed to me. Yes you responded in the first paragraph and I hear your views from an Abers perspective but the others parts need not come to me but respond to the broader audience.

My response to your first part is yes fixturing is difficult I agree, but Football at the junior levels has always been advocated to be enjoyment first. What would you take out of not scoring and getting beaten by over 200 points. What would you suggest play 14 defenders? Anyway we disagree, what’s new..

My thoughts are:
1. Can you accept the challenge, I reckon your going to struggle
2. There was quite a few big wins on the weekend, the EDFL put teams where they think they should be going on last years results, with kids moving to other clubs, kids moving up from younger divisions then you are going to get what happened on the weekend, as team dynamics change from year to year
3. Other premier league clubs U17 first teams Avondale, Marby also in Div 3 and won by over 200 points
4. If grading is taken seriously by the EDFL this should be rectified in coming weeks to all the teams (winner and losers) so a fairer system is had by all, in years gone by there were teams who were defeated by this much each week prior to grading so at least EDFL are having a crack at getting it right, I mean this is
Not the first time it’s happened
5. Nothing worse than being beaten by that margin
6. Abers U17 side 2017 all won premierships so deserve to be in higher divisions
7. Let’s move on to next week ..... and remember you said you would have a crack at running down another club this week & not EDSFC - I’ll be watching , I’ll buy you a beer at the next EDSFC vs Paco game if you succeed

Actually I believe the EDFL base the grading on how clubs went 2 years prior.. Nothing to do with ins & outs as they don’t have resources to track all that information.

Oh now I actually do know something don’t i.. Lol

No action on here for a couple of days... Why so serious?
Whats everyone's tips this week?

EDSv Glenroy pretty big at this stage. EDS have still named a good side and should win. Abers comfortably, the rest should be great games. Marby, Greenvale and Pacco, but they all could go the other way.

Looks like today's loss has Douttas the favourite so go down to Div1. They lost a it in the first quarter. Fought back well to get level but that effort cooked them. In seeing the number of U19's players in the team it will hold them in good stead in 3 years if they can hang onto them.

You have no idea what your taking about

What was the score at quarter time, about 36 to 2 from memory. Drew level and run out of steam in the last quarter. How many U19.5 players were in the side, from what I can see about 5 or 6.

I think most people's predictions are that Douttas won't win a game all season. Hope this is not the case as no club deserves to go through the season without a few wins.

Cmon Billy give me a quick review of the game from a neutral observer.

Did you at least buy a raffle ticket to help out??

I don’t know what upset me more, the “bad” loss or the fact they run out of dimmies in the last quarter..

No one muzzle’s the Turbo buddy, just nothing to say. I didn’t see the first half and shouldn’t have bothered going to the second half as it was an ordinary standard of footy by all 3 sides on the day.. Not the best conditions I agree but it was horrible to watch. Couldn’t honestly name 1 highlight other than a physical bump I witnessed by 2 players from both sides in front of the social club. Oh yes i thought it was fair like most footy followers, but it was deemed a free kick!!!

My observation was that I'm not 100% that ex AFLs are the way to go,are they there to make an impact or a $ probably better off chasing the best in suburban and country leagues who want the challenge
Secondly Foster is a serious player

I was told you've been told to zip it
Your lack of comment about pacoe and frequent post on other threads would probably back this up

Spot on . The majority of Longer term AFL players coming back think it’s a holiday . They slacken off doing the work required and hence become overpaid liabilities. I’ve found the above average VFL players to be more value. Pacco have too many way past their best . Very poor recruiting.

That EDS result must have people concerned down at NJ. It's a game I thought they really needed to win. It is a pretty young side.
Have heard that the coach may not see many more games if his behaviour and language during the huddles continues. Plenty of people complaining about how the club are being represented.

Pacco simply must win this week and I hope they do for no other reason than I’m sick of seeing the same sides playing finals(except Marby last year).
I know it’s early Turbs but lose to the mores and it’s just about season over...
And the gap between the top 6 and bottom 4(G,DS,WC& AH) has lengthened again this season

As I said, it’s grading games. Let’s hope the EDFL get it right. I agree with you about no one wanting to get thumped by that amount and it’s not good for junior footy - but you have to agree - you do show a unprecedented bias to EDSFC -
I mean you could have picked the U15 Oak Park vs Abers junior game where Oak
Park beat them by over 220 points as well - but as as usual week in week out - let’s review EDSFC. You can have good insight at times on the EDFL but can I see a post from you in the next week not aimed at Douttas - can you accept the challenge

Hey Walter, is my week challenge over??Haha

Just watched the highlights of the EDS v Glenroy game. Noticed Nipper Oval doesn’t look in good shape for a round 1 game. What’s the reason??
I know it’s only local footy but is there any chance they will stay off the oval and let it recover. Probably needs a bit of attention buddy..

Well, well, well ...... I can’t believe you lasted the week !! I did notice that seeing as you couldn’t mention EDS you went underground for the week .... lol

The surface isn’t to bad, didn’t help that the council aerated the ground last week but their tires chewed the surface up a bit, it should recover in the next fee weeks hopefully. Would be great to keep people off it but between footy, locals and the school next door using it it gets a fair workout. So .... what beer do you drink ??

Are you sure they aerated it last week? Seem strange they did it so late.
