He'll be fine.

Showed enough but it was obvious that he was playing his 1st game of AFL football.

Struggled with the pace and intensity of the game. There were moments where you could tell his tank was failing him. His decision-making was also a bit rushed at times.

All part of a learning curve.

should be given 15 games this year.

look at Fisher, has made a big step up this year, and I think that is partly due to the fact he was given such huge exposure last year, despite not being ready.

Will very likely get all the games he can manage physically.

Enormous upside.

Didn’t Dow rack up the second highest tackles for us on Thurs? That’s quite impressive for an 18 year old’s first AFL game. Sometimes it’s not the flair that we see, but it’s the unpretty work. He will be fine
Probably an indictment on the rest if anything. Tackling has long been our Achilles heel and it seems as though nothing has improved over summer.

2nd in tackles behind Cripps and 3rd in pressure acts behind Cripps and Murphy.

The standard expected for all junior players coming through; must be able to apply defensive pressure before committing to an attacking mindset.

I love that Dow's tackles aren't a tickle, he wraps them up and brings them to ground whilst enjoying it.

None of Brayshaw, LDU or Rayner exactly tore it apart either. These are still kids, Dow looks great so far. Worth giving him games until/unless it begins to stunt his development (eg. he's getting beaten up physically or low possessions is denting his confidence).

He may not have gotten his hands on the ball much, but when he did, his vision and, for the most part, his execution, was brilliant. He also tackled well and threw his body into the contest.

I'm frankly stunned that anyone is calling for him to be dropped. If he's fit, he plays as far as I'm concerned. He's all class.

I wouldn’t be dropping Dow just yet. His acceleration and movement is great. Just needs to tidy up disposal as he gets used to pace of afl. We need his pace and aggression.

AFL fantasy he had a good score compared to supercoach which goes to show he got the ball and used it just no well enough yet. The lace out miss for casboult was disappointing. But a few missed the target inside 50 on Thursday despite little pressure.

Be interesting to see him v gc when the pressure will be less in particular when the targets will be much more open at Etihad.
