Massive ramifications for the loser. Both these teams were talked up pre-season as not just finalists but possible premiers. That could still be the case as it is early in the season. Both sit 2-3 after 5 rounds however and for the loser { unless they draw ] they will slump to 2-4 and feel the football world caving in on them. The Bombers face another stern test in the Hawks the week after that while Melbourne plays the Saints at Etihad where up until last season they just couldn't get the chocolates.

Round 6 and the stakes are huge already for both teams. It will be a finals like atmosphere at the dome and no time for pussy footing around.

Predictions?

Melbourne will respond to a bad loss on Anzac eve while Essendon will go in with an unchanged lined up & serve up a similar performance to today.

Interesting. They met in round 6 last year after the ANZAC eve/day games. The dons were 3-2 and the Dees 2-3 with Essendon sitting in 8th place. The Dees won the clash at Etihad by 38 points. After round 5 last year seven of those teams stayed in there and played finals. Sydney came in and the Dogs went out.

Both have been bloody disappointing thus far. I can't help but think if Gawn nailed that shot in round 1 their whole dynamics would be different. ****ed up their mindset I reckon.

I think Melbourne. They tackled hard last night and brought the intensity. Their first quarter and start of third was pretty good. They were fighting until about 10-15 minutes to go. I think Richmond just absorbed the pressure well.

Essendon then on the other hand.. hard to see the positives after todays game.

Much more important for Dons imo.

Demons can bounce back in the following month with some softer games.

Dons have a bloody tough run coming up.

You'd have to go for Melbourne after seeing the two teams perform. At least they showed spirit.
Melbourne at Etihad? More likely to get a win on the moon.
