It’s still not enough to move, once you get to Melbourne and pay $1m for a 2 bed granny flat, $10 coffees, &7 vegemite toast, rats on the trains, traffic jams for hours.

Extra money is gone straight away and then you are just living in Pakistan’s sister city
Pakistan is a country. Why would Pakistan have a sister city?

Probably best that some players be honest and not bullshit like Lever did. Captain was well within his rights - you have no idea what was being said behind close doors - was going to sign with the club but waited for the collective bargaining agreement and then once that happened you hold off talks - yeh, that tells all you want to know what sort of individual he is.

Any rate we now have a replacement who is doing just as good, so we are happy.
So what sort of individual would you say he is? How dare he put himself and his financial security ahead of a football club, that's so inhumane of him. I bet you're such a decent person who makes sure to adore his bosses and leaders of the corporate world and does everything to make sure CEO's cracking more than a mill a year don't get their feelings hurt, because that's what 99% of regular people do right? What you're saying is Lever is a s**t person for putting a multi million dollar business in a position where they no longer have the ability to pick and choose the amount they really want to pay him. I say good on him. I can tell you right now without a doubt you would be happy to take a jackpot of money even if it meant you'd be ruining someone for it, you'd still take it even if it meant Adelaide fc would fold as a result.

Tex is very passionate and I give him credit, but he's an idiot being sucked in by the system who expects players to live and breathe for a football club, he has no right being a sook calling out lever the way he did. They are merely employees who'd be tossed out the minute the business deems them surplus to requirement.

Back to the point, Lever hasn't even been playing that bad, he'll be a gun for over a decade for Melbourne. Every Adelaide fan is salty and always will be, yes you have Doedee but you will live through the next 10 years knowing you could've had both

It would make me sick and deeply ashamed if any of our fans or our captain(s) reacted like that if Hogan leaves

Umm.. what about when Scully left?

Aren’t the Crows the last ones to do the paper bag full cash thing? I know Tippet made you do it and everything and it was all his fault and everything.

There was no paper bag full of cash and Crows never went over the salary cap with Tippett - They stuffed up but it wasn't Carlton levels

Don't get me wrong, no one deserves to be full on abused on social media. But unfortunately, it happens. The guys on social media abusing him would be the lowest common denominators of whoever's supporter base.

But let's not paint Lever as the absolute saint here. He bragged about offers from other clubs in our locker room, left in one of the most despicable fashions possible, and then hasn't exactly lived up to the hype at his new club. As Crows supporters, we should feel the right to be very happy about this, and we should definitely feel the right to banter about it (with other supporters at the least)

What about Scotty Thompson leaving Melbourne the same age as Lever. They praised Thommo at the BnF that Lever wasn't invited to.

If you want to dig 14 years into the past, then fine

Scott Thompson wanted to return to SA and play with Port Adelaide (he was recruited from the Magpies) - Unfortunately for him at the time, Port had a strong midfield, and didn't want him. The Crows said 'ok, we'll trade for you' and they got lucky

It's not as if Adelaide courted Thompson mid-season and it's not as if Thompson had a one on one TV interviewed where he laid out what club he was going to play for 2 days after the season ended

The only comparable thing between Thompson and Lever is the similar ages they were when they left the clubs that drafted them. The way they went about their respective departures were completely different

Your standard argument by so many on here goes along the lines of ‘He gets paid the big bucks, he should be able to deal with it’

Wrong. It’s this attitude that spawns mental health dramas. Just because you’re wealthy does not mean you’re happy.

People need to stop equating money as the answer.

Kleenex tissue generation.

How were their departures different? No one wanted Scotty to leave Melbourne, we put 4 years into him, he was our future mid. Melbourne accepted his request traded him home and then got Brent Moloney in to replace him. No one sooked at Melbourne, and Melbourne supporters enjoyed watching Scotty's career at Adelaide.

Lever decides to move home, rings his captain and teammates to tell them of his decision. Melbourne pays well at the trade table (first trade done no mucking around), Adelaide, captain and supporters going ape s*** over it.

Bullshit.

How many AFL captains make a scene like Walker did when players leave?

Such a massive scene....or perhaps that was mostly just media build up. Less of a scene than your players made when they were asked to go on a camp they decided was too hard.

Stop having a sook because you overpaid for a spud. No refunds.

We didn't over pay, Lever will be a gun for years. No ones spiking over here. You're obsessed and can't let it go.

Enjoy his last few years.

We will. He’ll keep us in contention for a flag. Something Melbourne won’t have to worry about.

Crows fans aren’t obsessed at all. We won the trade by a mile. Lever won’t be a gun. He’s no longer in our system and being protected by Talia and Laird. He’s been found out. We’ll enjoy the better player in Doedee for more then ten years. Thanks for the draft picks and the cap savings!

Then enjoy what you got and move on. I bet you can't

Adelaide didn't target Thompson and have meetings with him during the year - Adelaide wasn't even Scott Thompson's preferred club

You guys sooked when Scully left so it's not as if you guys are cleanskins
