I was watching BT's Open Mike and it was so good seeing Collingwood in the white jumper with black shorts playing Essendon who were also in black shorts. Probably rare even back in the 80s.

Fair enough. If it were Port I'd rather the black guernsey with white shorts than all white, except I wouldn't because superstitions say we've never won a final in the black one.

I reckon the black guernsey with white shorts looks better than Freo's purple with white shorts.

Doubly so now that we have a white number panel.

The prison bars actually look better with white shorts IMO.

Now that is unpopular!

I reckon the all black PB uniform looks better with hooped socks though.

Apologies for the poor quality photo but this seems like a very unique combination. 2006 Round 7 North Melbourne home game against Adelaide at Docklands. North wore their away jumper and white shorts against Adelaide in their away jumper and navy.

Great stats Akkaps, interesting to see North winless in the Argentia strip... They would have been better off keeping the royal blue with white v guernsey. If I remember correctly North won quite a few games between 2007 and 2008 in it.

I liked that jumper as well, it was effective as a clash jumper, while also having heritage behind it.
I wish Hawthorn would use this
hawthorn_special1_zps34411340.png
as their brown "away" jumper.

But anyway, here are the stats from the above North Melbourne jumper.

1 x Carlton
3 x Collingwood (once with royal shorts)
3 x Geelong Cats (once with royal shorts)

Bump. I split this thread as the first few pages were full of dead links so useless to anyone. I implore everyone to go and search AFL Photos for cool combinations from pre-season matches, practice matches or the odd H&A game where two teams wore coloured shorts or clash jumpers - it's good fun.
