10 kicks, 15 handballs, 10 marks, 9 tackles.... solid today. Chased well too.
Great to see you put a hand up as an amateur league talent spotter shouldn't be long before you get the gig.

Loving the specials people’s opinion on one of the few players who did his job today.

Keep up the good fight. :handfist:

25 possessions but only 154 metres gained. That's the killer and half of what Adams achieved with similar numbers.

I dare say the slow and congested style of game today suited the only pace that Mayne can muster out on the field these days.

Not our worst today but I still prefer others.

WTF does meters gained mean in a congested game like today?

Find another scape goat people!

Not to mention the 15 hospital handpasses he dished out to people under pressure and how about he actually scores a ****en goal or 2, he is useless. And of his 9 tackles, 7 were only attempted tackles where the opposition easily broke them, stats can be misleading

Metres gained doesn't bother me.

It's where he has his touches that does.
All if not most were defensive side of the wing.

His heat map would have been defensive half and I'm telling you from being at the game- not how it looks on tv.

If he is playing half forward or on a wing- he needs to be doing damage forward of centre.

All his touches were of no damage.

The irony is Nathan thought Mitchell's 50 touches weren't damaging despite being contested.

I wonder what he thought of all of Mayne's being uncontested in defensive half.

He was playing in the same game as all the others and had significantly less than most of them.

A poor metres gained stat equates to lack of ability or reluctance to use creative and attacking ball use for mine.

I didn’t want Mayne in our team today but if people think he was the problem today then they need to watch the game again.

Treloar’s misses were so much more detrimental to the result today.....but Mayne is such an easier target so what do I know.

It's not that he was a problem but he was never going to help us or be a solution.
So his presence and "role" he played offered us very little today.

What we do know is the result is squarely on the coach for this one.
He made no necessary changes or improvements.

In fact it's been 8 weeks and we have yet to really make a change to a team that isn't injury forced.
Quite alarming don't you think?

HFF I am agreeing with your greevance against Bucks but I will defend Mayne today.

I could give you a list of many more inept players today......he wasn’t one and that is my point.

But some of his handballs put other players into space beautifully. Also, he was good inside. Meters gained isn't everything.

Again I do agree with you that many were down.

However, I don't think he should be persisted with is what I'm saying irrespective of his "efforts" today.

We gain nothing by having play.

I think it's the injuries that are more alarming. I do think Fas should be in the side though. Apart from that, it's close to the team I'd pick, until we get Elliot, Moore, Aish and others back (if we ever do!).

You were doing okay and I was inclined to agree with you until ... a team that ‘isn’t injury forced’.
Reid, Langdon, Aish, Maynard, Pendlebury, have I forgotten any? Further all of those were in game.

But I do agree with you on Mayne, fumbles, most of his marks were on the defensive side or from kick-outs and not sure what they classify as a tackle. A bear hug?
Not in my best 28.

Injuries are concerning but they're to be expected in some capacity throughout the season.
However even in our losses we haven't made changes on form.

Fas should play no doubt.
Even Daicos should get a look in.
Sier and McLarty have been putting together some good form and they deserve a shot as well.

What will happen though is Nathan will most likely go for Blair and Greenwood.
He'd love to go to Josh Smith if he was available.

What I meant by that is in our losses this year how many changes have we made that haven't been forced on us?
Surely we'd have made a couple of changes to form by now as we don't have 22 players in red hot form.
Our VFL side is second. There has to be players ready for action.
Mayne and Blair weren't tearing it up at the lower level either to be fair.
Nathan even had Josh Smith as an emergency a few weeks ago despite being a month out with injury with no form outside of his round 1 disaster.

Mayne goes without saying.
We are wasting time and development minutes for a guy like Daicos.
Fas must sleep at night shaking his head when he thinks of the players playing over him at the moment.

I thought he got a few too many cheapies today playing further up the ground than normal.

Still, did some good things. Will hold his spot.

Not worth what we are paying him, but oh well, move on.

Just nothing about him is striking. He doesn't give much X factor. He reminds me of how Didak was his last few games for us, vanilla, uninfluentual, just picking up the easy possessions and not really doing anything to impact the scoreboard .

His body could have had enough since his game style used to be all based about crashing and bashing.

Fasolo Daicos McLarty and Seir should be getting games with our injury list. Not Blair or Mayne types.

He was saying no (not many) changes that weren't forced by injury over 8 weeks.
Not that we have no injuries.

Umm....Everything........

In a scrappy game you need players getting metres gained even more so to brake open the play.

It's actually total possession and tackle numbers that mean less in a scrappy game.

People who are bagging Mayne for that game, are those who have already decided he simply shouldn’t be playing.

He was good.

Linked up well, and was had six score involvements....more than Steele today.

He also was our 3rd best for pressure acts and tackles, and when Phillips went down spent more time playing his link role coming out of D50.

Will deservedly keep his spot for another week.
