Mark Neeld has resigned from Essendon.

It's understood the former Melbourne coach, one of John Worsfold's senior lieutenants at the Bombers, has informed the Dons that he will be leaving his post as game performance coach, effective immediately.

Neeld told Essendon players on Monday.

I find it funny how many people blame individual coaches for the poor performance of the team.

Leadership at the club has been poor for 15 plus years and that starts at the very top, above the coach.

I wish Mark all the best.

Good move.
Neeld made his name as a development coach at the Pies leading into their premiership.. That is what he does best. Has a poor record at anything else. When he came on board as development coach in 2014 I did not mind as that is his thing. The last thing we needed him doing was game performance coach.
