Prediction R9: Changes vs Swans

Only Hanneberry has played more games from his draft year (1 more at that). Sidebottom might pass him but everyone else has played a year less games. You don't play almost 200 games of AFL being soft.

Spot on. Soft is the wrong word I think. Not sure that chucking him on the inside, considering his body shape, was a great idea, although I understand this was out of necessity at the time. Still got a lot of footy in him, time to live up to that potential.

i agree, he was an outside player that got tagged. If he was that same player now, we could accomodate him:'(

Hanneberry is a better player than both Hill & Gaff !

I understand that you can’t bring players straight into a side after they’ve been injured for a couple years. When I read that it’ll take another 3 games in WAFL before he gets a look in I was annoyed, we have no forward line and we have a big injury list, just bring him in.

They are different players and even considering that I don't agree. All 3 are A grade players and would walk into any team.

Compare it to other clubs in that same time span, Richmond had their share of injuries prior to last year they happened to get some luck in that department which no doubt helped them lift the cup.

The issue is we never seem to have any luck in that department. What if it's not luck?

People here often claim that our strength and conditioning team are "the best in the business", with nothing at all to back that up. Fact is that over the last 5-6 years we've consistently had one of the worst injury records in the AFL, only the expansion teams have been worse.

Agreed. Or without playing through some niggles. I would hazard to guess that playing him *with* niggles for too long is more to blame than him being too soft to play while less than 100%.

I have to admit to drinking a lot for that west coast game and was too preoccupied with the free kick count to notice nhyuis’ role too much. I do remember a lot of McGovern intercepts which isn’t uncommon. I remember the hawthorn game better and he seemed to play as a general forward. I thought he was ok that game.

Would still like to see him reprise the role from time to time. Last few weeks has been McGovern, Ashbury / rance and Carlisle killing us. Mccarthy isn’t strong enough and cox not in the right spots. With tabs out need to do something else to at least bring the ball to ground.
Playing with even numbers forward of the ball will help Cox and McCarthy (& everyone else) as well.

We probably aren't far off that but evidence?
He iirc melted over not drafting D.Rich who ironically is about the softest player in the league imo.

So looks like
In Walters & Wilson
Out Duman and my guess would be Nyhuis, who will be the traveling Emg.

Unless Ballas doesn't pull up.

For all the talk about Gaff being soft, I think both players were pick 4? Gaff has been better over the long run and
the soft tag has evaporated.
Hill earlier on was definitely an excitement machine, but Gaff's consistency, durablity has him well ahead.
Don’t compare Gaff to Hill Gaff has always had the luxury of being an outside player where Hill has always got his own Ball. If Hill plays the same role as Gaff (which isn’t allowed in Ross’s Game Plan) he would be more elite than Gaff

Good. Hope Alex Pearce sticks to him like glue. Hasn't had a geniuene oppenent for a few rounds now.

Good changes. Glad Nyhuis gets to stay in the side, he deserves a solid crack. Get him on Ronke.

It will be a good learning experience for Pearce even if Buddy towels him up.

Small forwards always kill us but after all the hype i reckon Ronke will have a tough day at the office this week.

DP playing his role. Enjoyed his game last week but it's the game.

Duman has a few things to work on. Actually worried we might turn him into Sutty mk2
