Bolton made a comment at one stage about not deviating from the plan. We could have gone ultra defensive to control the damage, but there seems to be a 'big picture' strategy to have the kids learn a more balanced style irrespective of short term results.

(I think this is approach is misguided FWIW)

That's great in a long term lets sit back and analyse sorta way. But I can tell you for fact coaching young teams that getting hammered week in week out it breaks spirit and causes more loss to the sport (AND MOST CERTAINLY THE TEAM) as a whole.

If a coach does not have the cattle, he/she, plugs holes to stem the bleeding, be competitve. Its self preservation for the club because you lose good players by NOT doing this. Its not real estate. Its not buy a shit house in the best street scenario ... ego's are involved. You will not get many players to front up week after week and try to carry a shit team. Humans are humans.

didn't get to see all of the game. noticed lamb kicked a couple of goals again, while supposedly keeping hibberd quiet. did about as much as he could do on a day like today. harry kicking his couple again before being at the other end from where all the football was happening.
murphy kind of eased himself back into things... be better with more fitness and a week in his legs.
graham got plenty, but will probably get the arse after a quiet week some time soon. doesn't get treated like he's a part of the future.
fisher and sps can mix it with the big boys now, just need some more kids to follow, and some injured players to come back... and a stack of talented midfielders.

Positives??? Samo’s boots matching his socks. Too cute.

He played this season like those kids that are forced to play Auskick by their parents but he would rather catch butterflies and play on the swings in the park.

Agree...sps is so over rated on this board...far easier to just crack into garlett, o'shea, rowe etc

The losers from this Round :

Dogs by 37 (only kicked 2 goals for the match)
Giants by 43 (they were flag faves pre-season)
Suns by 42 (playing in China)
Cats by 34 (against the shit-stain we beat last week)
Dockers by 59
Saints by 28
Hawks by 56 (against who .... the Lions, paalllease)
Tigers by 47 (what, they were flag faves the last fortnight)

The average losing margin for the round is just a tick under 45-points. The Blues have lost by 109, admittedly a big margin, but we have got some serious numbers of our limited resources missing and our supporters consider us to be a complete basketcase again.

Tipping synbad wont like this

yep. agree with this.

I said it last month that we should switch back to the defensive game we had last year. of course, the know- it - all's on here shot that down saying this attacking game needed to happen otherwise they will have a too defensive mindset for the rest of their careers LOL. what garbage.

You're right, we don't have the cattle to use an attacking game especially with all the injuries. I don't see how that attacking mind set is helping anyway, if anything our scores have been lower than last year's.

If we want to have any chance of snaring a quality free agent then we need to be more competitive each week.

Graham was nowhere near best on. Don't worry about his possessions, he was going at 57% efficiency with a lot of turn overs when delivering inside 50 gave our forwards no chance. The worst part was those inside 50 kicks were out wide so the Dees could waltz out the fat side and rebound out with ease and hurt us.

Kerridge I didn't think was too bad, he did make his share of mistakes too though but unless your name is Patrick Cripps they all made a lot of mistakes today.

As for Fish, SPS, Dow and LOB turning it over under pressure, to me it was obvious as to why. The Melbourne mids were far more established in their AFL career. Their bigger bodies really made it difficult for those kids to have an impact. We need to pump a few preseasons into these kids before we see them come good and stand up to that sort of pressure.
Career best game.
