i thought they said rohan was rested. staying at home with his wife rather than dropped. otherwise would be playing reserves.

I don't rate Marsh as an intercepting reader of the play, or as a loose man. I think he's very good at playing one on one against a direct mid-to-tall sized opponent, and he's also good at winning some ground balls in the back end of the ground. But I think Aliir is a more like-for-like replacement for Mills, which sounds strange given their size. Some were even saying only a few weeks back that Aliir coming in would actually free Mills up to play more in the midfield, such are the similarities in what they bring to the back-line.
You still must have this mythical view of what Aliir was ..cause it ain't what he is now.
He was still off the pace on the weekend in the magoos.

Marsh is like a Toyota . You know what your'e going to get. I thought he was ok in a couple of games this season . Especially against the crows . Considering the pressure he was under.

Longmire dropping Rohan is a surprise but I get the feeling it's been partly to do with Ronke coming into the forward line and being immediately so good chasing and tackling. So much so that Rohan's main and only consistent attribute (pressure) isn't so rare anymore - he's become expendable given how rarely he touches the ball.
Can’t have too many players in the forward line can we. Would be criminal to play both of them in the forward line our defence won’t beable to cope

Players like marsh are the difference come the end of the season. Unfortunately the Toyota ain’t going to do something special when you need it to. He gets us nowhere. I feel like we take 2 steps back every time he comes in

I was kind of hoping this could be his chance. I don't mind marsh either though.

I mean it should be Aliir's chance.. I get why Marsh is playing I'm glad Horse is recognising the need for a taller back-line. I think we would be best with Melican in providing some height, and Aliir in doing what Mills does. Maybe that will eventuate in the coming weeks...

Kidding, right?
Honestly if we are serious about having a crack at the trophy this year we will take care of the Lions with relative ease.

If we are switched on then this will happen on Saturday.
Yep, a few panic merchants on here, I think.

Brisbane have won ONE game this season, FCOL.

You can't pick a team full of people that are "going" to do something special.
You need Toyotas with the Teslas. Considering Stoddart has been picked. That kid has zing.
I think mid season is the time for Toyotas

No I'm well aware Aliir hasn't shown the kind of form he had in the seniors in 2016. But I also think at some point given the injuries we've had (first to Melican and now to Mills) that Aliir should get a look in given he is suited to both of their roles, even if not at his peak. I get why it didn't happen this week, but with Mills out for the rest of the year I would be very disappointed if the coaching staff didn't turn to him at some point (unless Marsh miraculously turns into a great reader of the play and an intercept specialist, in which case Marsh can happily stay.)

One of them contributes a fair amount after 4 games, the other after 100 games provides little beyond implied pressure. GR needs to show he can be a factor in the 2s over a month.

You don't know what you've got until it's gone.

A lot of commentary about Mills was how he'd "plateued" and that he wasn't that great and was constantly turning the ball over. He'll be missed.

I think Marsh has been very good when he's had the call up.

If Aliir deserved a spot it would be his. He obviously has a bit still to work on.

Well Mick, clearly the MC and Mr Horse did not think GR was performing his role as well as you thought he did.
Not necessarily B52. For all we know, Rohan could be struggling with life at home because his lovely wife is? Maybe he feels that he’s letting the team down and feels he needs a rest or maybe a game in the 2’s? The fact that Longmire didn’t speak about his omission may be because he respects his players privacy?

We just don’t know but you can guarantee that he’ll be back, probably saving the game like the Hawks or the Bombers last year! How many games you save in the AFL, while you’re at your condescending (or should I say belligerent) best?

I don't care if Alir is chosen or not BUT don't mess with his head. When Horse specifically nominates him as a possible 'in' and later excludes him even from emergencies then it is poor people management and worse ........probably damaging.

I hope we find put the back story. I'm starting to think there is definately one
