We took them prisoner and transported them to the concentration camps, which makes us their custodians in exactly the same way as we are the custodians of prisoners in mainland gaols; we can't abnegate our responsibility to look after them simply by paying somebody else to do it on our behalf and ignoring all evidence of our stooges' incompetence or worse.

Well thats right. How quickly 'they' forget the example of extraordinary rendition by the US to 'dispose' of prisoners. The US is/was responsible for what happened. You can't wipe your responsibilities just because you 'export' a problem.

We lock him up, tell him he can stay on a remote island if he wants, then withdraw any medical care that might treat his epilepsy or developing depression (that Australia was in part responsible for). But sure, he was just looking for some of that sweet Centrelink cash.

How is this Australia's fault? He was given safety in a country then selfishly chose to end his life. He was safe. A true refugee would acknowledge this.
