Not enough love for Plowmantrust us to take the wrong plowman...
A couple of points
1. We are a better team without Murphy in it - his departure will not have anywhere near the impact B Gibbs' has had (for a number of reasons including time in the rebuild and type of player), conversely, it will actually be good for our culture; Kade Simpson will/should be shown the exit too.
2. Our first first rounder should absolutely be on the table for the right player this year. This needs to be a pure goal kicking midfielder.
Fire at will.
We base our 'Murph as a small forward' projection on his goal kicking form well over 5 years ago. Recent history suggests that he doesn't take responsibility for kicking goals (this may be the captaincy messing with his natural game) and size and injury combine to ensure he'll never be able to apply manic pressure. The best we can hope for from HFF Murph is an upgraded but older Matthew Wright.
Have it on very good authority (retired CFC player) that when Harry came to the club he wasn’t backward in stating how quickly it was all going to happen for him and even told a player he’d be taking his position pretty quickly.
Fair to say that he’s changed his attitude a bit since the reality was different to the dream, but I think he’s now showing a bit of what concentration and work ethic can do, as well as pulling your head in and doing your bit for the team. I believe he can be a very important established player for us.
Picked that up when he was cheekily twittering Bolts if he was up for Senior selection lol ….
which one?Not enough love for Plowman

I did like that tweet. It does make me wonder.... he does come across as a bit of a joker. I wonder if there is a mix of arrogance plus mistaken jokes at play here?
Here is my favourite.... those with truly massive egos would struggle to make this type of self deprecating gag:

The one that has played one and a half decent games this year?which one?
I like him too, has what appeals, mongrel. But he is not tearing it up
FMD we have short memeories.
I feel MM's gut running is being heavily ignored on here. We are really missing his run atm. But his recent goal kicking ability could well be related to the amount of inside work (to which he is not ideally suited) and his gut running. Many players, MM included, struggle big time to kick goals when heavily fatigued. I have every confidence that MM will find his kickking shoes, once he has the midfield support he needs.
Ps we can add CC (captain Cripps) to the list of players having trouble finding the goals when fatigued.
I can be as critical as most of some feeble tackling attempts and "hot potato" off loads, but he remains an asset for the club.FMD we have short memeories.

Our one.which one?
Yeah but....
He don’t take a backward step, that’s been established since game one.
Couldn’t name one of our boys that has done that.
I agree , the trouble Murph has had the last 12 months or so it takes him 6-7 games to get match fit but hasn't been able to string games together to do that due to injury imo.I don't want to be rude, but seriously if someone thinks we are a better team without Murphy they don't know much about our team or football in general.
It's just such an outrageously incorrect assertion it boggles my mind.
Murphy in form is an absolute gun.
Well summarised. Passed his peak but a far more capable player than many on our list, which is painfully short in both senior quality and players that can rotate through the middle (I count ‘wing’ or ‘high flank’ in that classification)I can be as critical as most of some feeble tackling attempts and "hot potato" off loads, but he remains an asset for the club.
We need to accept the limitations of his body and perhaps some mental scars, there is a role to play for a special talent.
He needs to finish his career on a wing. The calls to play forward are misguided. Has the wheels and tank to be a spectacular
link man. Ed, Bam Bam, Dow, Fish and a couple of others can help Crippa with the grunt work if we can't snag a FA. Freed up
Murphy can be a big contributor for a couple of years and IMO is more important short term than Simmo and Thomas. Passing
on the captaincy is a no brainer, but he has a role to play providing it is not in the engine room.

Carey’s excitement is borderline erotic.... he must sense an arrogance that he sees in himself perhaps?Dow? Fisher? Willo? Despite their stature, never seen them shirk it
Fogarty is already a mature body, most kids in that draft year are 4 odd years behind, size wise
As i said, i like him, a lot, but the commentary on how well he is traveling seems a little perplexing, especially given the quality of players around him

Edit
Also playing a more of an inside role bangs him up a bit more.

Not sure why you replied to me- we are arguing the same thing

He was a gun many years ago.....definitely not the player he once was. Could be useful on wing or elsewhere but no longer as an inside mid.I don't want to be rude, but seriously if someone thinks we are a better team without Murphy they don't know much about our team or football in general.

That comment was that its preventing Murph from getting on the outside as often as he/ we would like. Not sure why people keep saying he's banged up either TBH...the guy won our best and fairest last year as our best player and I'm pretty sure played every game.
He suffers a foot injury he's never had before this year and suddenly his body can't go on at afl level in some people's eyes.

Thats what i was trying to sayThis is the problem … he should never have been played as an inside mid! The guy has elite running and awesome disposal (when given time). Great field vision and highly creative. He was forced from the get go to be an inside mid.
Smurph never had the frame to do this role. CFC caned his body by forcing him to play a role that he "learned". In another team, like Hawthorn in the same era, he would have been a devastating outside mid (IMHO better than Gaff), that hits the scoreboard.
