Not really sure how to word this, but what are the highest combined winning and losing margins that two teams have brought into a match-up against each other from each team's previous week results?
For example, Gold Coast play St Kilda next weekend. Gold Coast are coming off a 108-point loss and St Kilda a 71-point loss, for a combined losing margin of 179 points.
Thanks, Ron The Bear! Really interesting.
Just for your records, it seems that although West Coast did play Hawthorn in Round 18, 1987 (with West Coast winning by a point), the combined margin of 255 points comes from each team's Round 16 game, not Round 17 (both teams played in Round 17).
almost 100 at 1/4 time - https://afltables.com/afl/stats/games/2011/052020110501.htmlIs anybody able to put together a list of how many times each club has had a score of 100 or more at three quarter time? And also at half time? (Don't forget Fitzroy)
Yes, Essendon's score of 94 is the highest achieved at 1/4 time:almost 100 at 1/4 time - https://afltables.com/afl/stats/games/2011/052020110501.html
I was very disappointed that day. At 1/4 time I would have thought it a certainty we'd kick 200 points.
Bit of a weird situation across those two rounds as several games were played out of sync.
R17 Jul 10 WC v Ca
R16 Jul 11 Es v Ri
R16 Jul 11 NM v Fi
R17 Jul 11 Ha v WB

R16 Jul 19 Sy v WC
R16 Jul 25 Me v Ge

R17 Jul 26 Sy v Es
Although you're correct, those Round 16 games were the last matches played by WC and Hawthorn before their Round 18 clash.
Didn't reimers kick like 7 that day? Remember being at the OG hotel and thinking a few records would be broken. Unfortunately notI was very disappointed that day. At 1/4 time I would have thought it a certainty we'd kick 200 points.
Hopefully i explain this well enough
What's the most amount of players to kick 25+ and also 30+ for the same club in the same season?
A similar disclaimer to the one above, in that I hope I explain this right.
Buddy Franklin seems to kick some unusual scores, 2.8, 3.6, 1.5, etc. (he may not have actually kicked those exact scores).
What is the highest number of behinds that he has kicked in a game for each amount of goals that he has kicked in a game? And then what is the lowest number of behinds that he hasn’t kicked for each goal total that he has scored in a game?
For example he may have had games where he’s kicked 3.0, 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, 3.4, 3.5 but not 3.6. So 3.5 would be the first answer and 3.6 the second. There also may be outliers like 3.7 or 3.8.
I hope I’ve explained that right.

It's happened on 217 occasions (21 times from 1970 onwards), with another 10 cases of teams winning despite having three goalless quarters:Sydney won tonight without scoring a goal in both the first and last quarters, how often has that happened? The Eagles, despite losing, kicked goals in all four quarters.

Goalless for two quarters and won the game: 217 times (last night's game included).
The previous case was Gold Coast in Rd. 1, 2018, where they didn't manage a goal in the 1st and 3rd quarters but still won - Gold Coast 7.13 (55) vs. North Melbourne 5.9 (39). Five times it's happened in a Grand Final: 1899 Fitzroy, 1900 Melbourne, 1905 Fitzroy, 1908 Carlton, 1909 South Melbourne.
1970 onwards (won with 2 goalless quarters):

Goalless for three quarters and won the game: 10 times.
The most recent case was in the 1927 Grand Final, where Collingwood was goalless for three quarters (1st, 3rd, 4th) but won the game - 2.13 (25) to Richmond 1.7 (13)! Richmond was goalless till 3/4 time, which obviously helped the Pies' cause!!
Edit: I'm hoping you just meant any two quarters could be goalless, not specifically the first and last quarters!!
62 times teams have been goalless at 3/4 time. It's happened 5 times from the 70's onwards, with West Coast in Rd. 23 1992 (vs. Footscray) the last team to "achieve" this feat.https://afltables.com/afl/stats/games/2018/141920180414.html
In the above game, Brisbane scored their first goal after 81m 35s, 26m 54s into the third quarter.
How many teams have not scored a goal in the first 3 quarters?
