I still maintain that with Doc, Byrne and Williamson in we will be a completely different outfit. I know Doc is the only proven performer out of those 3 but when our defensive rebound is basically Simpson, we're in trouble.

Those guys would change our whole game plan and we'd actually be able to score on the rebound.
Just checked the stats and we had more disposals but lost I50's easily.

I agree with you the backline and the side lacks run and dare.

O'Brien impressed me yesterday, he'll also help moving forward.

I think eventually we should only play Weitering and Marchbank as tall defenders.

If we play another he must be a runner also, so that excludes Plowman.

We need a gut running accumulator, Walsh or Smith.

Kerr is impressing me.

Leads up beatifully

Let's not forget we are getting smashed which limits his opportunity.

Well ahead of McKay at the moment.
I can't say I'm impressed. Early days, but I was a happier supporter when Harry was in the 22.

Geez, I'm glad I go and watch more local footy these days rather than waste my Saturdays watching Carlton play.

I was not expecting us to be a top 4 team, but to not kick a goal in the first half against Freo is a disgrace.

Having said that I have almost no solutions to how it can be fixed anytime soon.
well said - there's a dozen screaming babies on here in the same position - they just aren't as honest or eloquent as you

Yeh it not constant negativity, whinging attacking other posters some people seem to delight in the ‘I told you do’

Offer some constructive criticism but seriously some of it is pathetic

It’s hard enough at the moment
Just watching the replay, this photo is our set up from their kick in....yes that is also a Dockers player in the light, this is coaching...no way the players decide to just be 10 yards off the Dockers...if you want to play a zone then you need to be able to coach it. I have will give Bolton some time but we are not Hawthorn and if he continues to have unrealistic expectations from our list then his credits will be used up.

It can turn quickly. No doubt about it.
We can also be subjected to many years of substandard performances with little to no quantifiable improvement.
Which one are you backing?

Yes he didn’t have his best day did he?

Players looked lethargic, disappointing as our games prior the bye showed something

What’s your solution

At half time I was thinking we might as well fold as a club or go to tassie and then common sense prevails and just hoping these dark days will disappear sooner rather than later. We must stick by the club and the club must do the right by us supporters and tell us how it is improving the development of players and culture of this once proud club.

The way i see it is this is a forum for supporters to voice their opinions on the Carlton footy club and what they (posters) are thinking.

The club is not immune from criticism as some seem to think. As for this idea that any criticism has to be constructive (i have even seen a poster say you can only say some thing negative as long as you say something positive) i am not sure that is a rule at all. Posters have the right to express an opinion that may be negative but do not have provide the remedy.

As for the attacking other posters it seems to be that the club apologists and self-appointed protectors of everything the club does are the ones that are leading the attack on anyone who has the temerity to disagree with the 'club is doing everything fantastically/wins and losses dont matter/ in 3-5 years will be a power ' line.

Play back shoulder on the backline for a start. That is all I ask. We cannot play Lamb in the side, cannot dispose in the backline and no threat in the forward line. Lang needs to play forward in his place as he is not match fit for playing midfield. I don’t believe we need Charlie so far forward when we play Kerr/ Harry and Casboult.. we are too slow and tall. Move him onto the forward/wing. Recruit 3 small half forwards so we never have to play Wright and Lamb next year.

Casboult can’t kick but it’s supposedly Kerr’s strong point.

If he isn’t backing himself in to kick from 30m out directly in front - he won’t play !!

Simple as that - his only hope is to be our Jack Gunston type 3 goals from 4 shots type of player.

****! all this shit about him passing it off and not taking the kick!

this is what happened, at the end of the second quarter, he took a mark and turned his back! Kruezer was standing on his own in the goal square. Kerr then missed the shot. I can say he would have had a word said to him at half time. Fast forward to the 4th quarter, he takes a mark, sees a man open and passes because he is obviously a smart kid and took on the feedback. Simple

mountain out of a ****ing molehill. The only thing I'd like to see is us moving away from this possession style slow movement of the footy. It's killing us. not the best way to play anymore, especially when our skills are a bit down for whatever reason

Good performances against good sides is positive
Constant crap can indeed it can turn very quickly
Just not in the direction that is hopeful

There is little to recommend your reply, in any way.

First of all, you state that Casboult can't kick, yet you did note that my post stated that this occurred in Bolt's first season as coach; two and a half seasons ago. Over that time, Levi's shot accuracy has improved immeasurably. This is the current list of goals kicked this year by accuracy. You may notice that while Levi is not at the top, he is a loooong way from the bottom.

https://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/ft_goal_kickers?year=2018&sort=accuracy&type=T

Secondly, Kerr missed a shot earlier in the match, and is within his first ten games. Have you seen any of his VFL appearances? He's a very good shot for goal, in a match where nothing went right for the first two quarters; he and the team was down in confidence, which happens when, you know, you're ten goals down and you've missed a hard earned shot already. He'll learn from that, because that's all that needs to be done here.

And finally, you did see that Kerridge kicked the goal, yeah? I come back to precisely where I left my last post on the matter; where EXACTLY is the bad?

He passed to a teammate who kicked the goal. How is that a bad thing?

I love this club as much as anyone. Ive bought into this "rebuild" because its all I can do. The answer probably lies somewhere in the middle.
Likewise i've seen enough of the young players to know we're heading in the right direction. I dont care how long it takes as long as they do it properly and we're a force for a long time..

As you say Andy it is an opinion, yet people that disagree with the negative sentiment, are labeled as having blue coloured glasses.

IMO, people can post whatever they like, but surely all of us can rebut an opinion

Interesting though, some only show up after a heavy loss, yet not many celebrate the positives.

It is an interesting lack of balance

I really don't know why it's an either/or proposition at the moment. Two VERY different players, and two developing ones.

Kerr better on the lead, a good set shot kick. McKay more dynamic, taller, with significant x-factor. Both good selections.

It's all about the young players Development, so far it's been underwhelming this year.

Been happy with
-Obrien
-Fisher
-Kerr
-Curnow

Would like a touch more from
-Dow
-Marchbank
-SPS

Dissapointed with
-Weitering
-McKay
-Cuningham
-Polson
-Kennedy
-JSOS

Injuried
-Williamson
-Pickett

Not asking the world of them but just continued improvement and reasonable output from their relative draft position.
Samo has been slightly better than Fisher......anyone can see he is being patient and slowly building
Samo tracking well so is Fisher
Dow has been ok as first year....
Obrein has struugled at time is undersized with good run...seems to be trained endurance wise already[could be a good asset off hb or a wing down the track

the rest need to try and improve......Cunningham has had a lot of time already to make it...plus has injury issues

I think you’ll find that a constant negative agenda isn’t acceptable and trolling within BF rules

Some of the whining & gloating after a loss seems to be more frequent

Not sure what your on about the apologist self appointed protectors ... maybe you’re reading a different forum to me
