Hindsight is always 20-20.

Players who went elsewhere may never have wanted to come here anyway. Drafting after the fact is pointless.

Grass is always greener elsewhere for others.

Some posters need to move past that or actually contribute to the discussion about the future instead of finding ways to keep pot shotting the past.

And maybe just Maybe he knows more than all of you combined...guess we can wait 10 more years hey?
you'll be back in the asylum by then safe from the thoughts of any disgruntled 3 time delisted racist human dud

The way i see it is this is a forum for supporters to voice their opinions on the Carlton footy club and what they (posters) are thinking.

The club is not immune from criticism as some seem to think. As for this idea that any criticism has to be constructive (i have even seen a poster say you can only say some thing negative as long as you say something positive) i am not sure that is a rule at all. Posters have the right to express an opinion that may be negative but do not have provide the remedy.

As for the attacking other posters it seems to be that the club apologists and self-appointed protectors of everything the club does are the ones that are leading the attack on anyone who has the temerity to disagree with the 'club is doing everything fantastically/wins and losses dont matter/ in 3-5 years will be a power ' line.
you would be the most naive poster in the joint

He hasn't had a pre-season yet and he has been impacting games more in the past few matches IMO.
He was pretty good against Freo I thought despite what the numbers look like.
I agree, I thought he was ok in patches yesterday

They brought in Prestia, Caddy and Nankervis.

We brought in Mullett, Shaw and Lobbe.

I think I see the problem.
They were able to sell their chances at progress well, on top of being able to locate niche players at another club and appeal to something in them that made them want to come and play there.

It could be the prospect of playing ones, it could be the potential to play finals, to play in marquee matches, whatever. That's the lesson we need to learn from Richmond's flag - and, really, Collingwoods in 2010. Both had players come in from other sides, and both sets of players formed crucial components in flag teams.

It's actually interesting to compare the two years. Both teams were perrenial contender types, not exceptional era based sides. Both teams profited from a gameplay anomaly that allowed them to obtain an on-field advantage over their opponents; Collingwood with their 'drive them wide' variation of the zone, then the run and gun forward to exhaust their opposition as the match progressed; Richmond with their use of forward pressure across the entire forward half of the ground, created as a result of an almost kamikaze style of ball movement out of the back half only working due to their prolific CHF ensuring the ball falls in the right spot.

What I was trying to say Lol

"flogs of the highest order"?

You really think this is an accepted form of address towards a fellow supporter?

Disappointing when we resort to that

I'm a little on the fence in this debate ie. think we should give it time to judge the success of the rebuild but I'd be lying big time if I said I wasn't a bit worried and from time to time I will express my concerns. What I won't do, regardless of how strongly I disagree with a poster, is revert to that description of fellow posters.

Doesn't mean I will not think it occasionally.

Carlton has had to play too many draftees in firsts sans much developed quality around them for support - because there is none. Blokes like Graham/Kerridge/Lamb/Wright/Levi/Rowe/Thomas/Mullett/O'Shea etc etc etc wouldn't get a game in any other side - they do at Carlton and they aren't up to matching it with better opposition players for 4 quarters.

There is NOTHING the Club can do about this - except gradually replace these types over time with hopefully better at the margin players - whilst developing the younger players without breaking them.

This is what a total rebuild starting from nothing much looks like.

Rational supporters must understand all this and a rational supporter should focus on positives and put in context team performances - because pulling your hair in frustration at the inevitable loss week to week - is not a good life plan I would have thought.

The season could have looked totally different with a better run of injuries - but the thin list copped injury and smashed a lot of pre-season planning to bits.

Anyone who posts that injuries are no excuse and that this or that teenager or 20 yr old is not developing as fast as they could at Carlton is ignoring the context of the development of each player - they have very little developed body support- most of the time they are running around making up for the fumbles/poor handballs/poor kicks and missed tackles of the deckchairs Bolton is forced to play.

Embrace the crapola you see from players XYand Z they are trying their best mostly and focus on the positive signs is my only suggestion.

Absolutely spot on.

The only bit I would add is that injuries have robbed us of fast tracking development of Marchbank, Kennedy, Williamson, Pickett, Macreadie in particular.

Inability to invest in the development of these players this year slows our development.

Oh I saw that. It's what made Kerr a triple-non-threat in the one game:

Took it upon himself to kick the first one, missed.
Got a spray and went into his shell.
Had a chance to redeem himself, and passed it off.

I'd rather he had a shot at the second one and miss than pass it off. Classic Carlton avoidance culture.
another one pops up from the grassy knoll to take a shot after a loss - this is why I should learn to stop emptying my cellar

Yes for me too?

Give it a rest BF
if that's who I think it is I'm glad at least I still have that one locked in solitary - still squawking and filling its nappy I take it?

Nah wasn’t my finest moment. Had a bad morning. Apologies. Didn’t mean to get personal.
happy to co-sign this - brilliant effort - we need to come together under this flag - too rare an occurance - peace out you clowns, you ravers, you degenerates, you gizmoids.....

That why we have to bring in the likes of Gaff
Wallis,Guthrie,Fiorini and even consider giving up pick 1 for wines

Fiorini re-signed with GC earlier this week.

Best to take it to the List Management thread where it belongs.

Wallis,Guthrie,Fiorini and even consider giving up pick 1 for wines

Gaff doesn't want to play for cellar dwellars, Fiorini re-signed with GC 3 days ago and Guthrie looks likely to re-sign at Geelong.

Wines I doubt would relish the thought of coming to a team so low on the ladder.
