Season 25 review

Well good morning everyone, I hope you all enjoyed last nights event. I apologise for making it at a time-slot that didn't suit many people but with a big move interstate for me this week it was the only real time I was able to post it without the next season starting.

Speaking of the new season starting, we're only 4 weeks away from Season 26 so not a whole lot of turnaround in between. I hope you all enjoy your break and come back to the club refreshed and raring to crack into another season. A big congratulations to NickCC for taking out the hotly tipped West Coast Wonders B&F which is his first Wonders win but I believe his 2nd B&F award after winning one with the Gumbies before jumping ship. It was an intense count all throughout the season. We had 16 players receive votes which is a fantastic effort and out of a squad of 25 members that just shows the consistency our squad had throughout the season. 20 votes separated the top 6 and every single player within the 7 all featured inside the top 3 at some stage throughout the count. A marvellous effort from everyone but it was our RR that took out the top award.

Also a congratulations to all our other award winners. U2tigers for taking out the rookie of the year award which was a hard voting process after we had some solid contributions from our rookies all season. To SSwans2011 for winning the first ever BB Medal which was voted by his peers as the best on-field and off-field contributor to the team & haydo took out the Crowwie award for the most goals scored.

Overall, a successful season on and off the field despite going out in #straightsets

I touched on this in the introduction to the B&F count but I'd like to again thank my leadership group from this season. Elton Johns Wig, NickCC, MKMatty, SSwans2011 and dogs105 for the amount of work we did behind the scenes allowing this club to run and be as successful as we were throughout the season. Your work doesn't go unnoticed.

Leadership group announcement
As a new season draws near we look to the future. I want to firstly thank NickCC, SSwans2011, MKMatty and dogs105 for all their efforts in the LG this season. All 4 of them will be taking a step back from LG duties next season which allows me to introduce the new members of the leadership group we'll have this season. Well done to both U2tigers and JT_the_Man on being promoted to join myself and Elton Johns Wig as that rounds out your 4-man leadership group.

Captaincy announcement
As you're all aware there has been some rumours spreading around that I was leaving the captaincy and Wonders to join a struggling club. As that at one point may have been a very true rumour, I have decided to stick around to the place that I've called home since S20 and will once again be captaining this club into my 4th season. However I won't be alone. Over the past 2 seasons I have been on the look out for my potential successor and I believe at the start of last season, I have finally found that man. Elton Johns Wig came over from the Demons at what was a hard time for the club losing a few top posters to rival clubs at the end of S24. EJW saw the club needed someone to come in and bring a bit of life back into the club and all throughout the season he's been my right hand man. I'd like to formally announce that Elton has joined me as co-captain to lead this club in S26. With a busy life change and another little bub on the way after only having our first bub 8 months ago, my time will be very restricted on Bigfooty so I needed an extra pair of hands that will take care of the club when I'm not around and I can certainly trust and you should too that Elton John will do his best to steer this ship and take the club into greatness. Well done to EJW on being promoted to co-captain for S26


Squad announcements
Every season we see players come and go however this season is a little more harder pill to swallow. We say goodbye to WaLkEr_ThE_StAr who has flagged his intentions to join another club. WTS got thrown a lifeline by the Wonders at the start of S24 (I think) to continue his career as he was being wasted away playing for the 2's at the Hawks. WTS has shown to be a valuable member of the team over the past 2 seasons contributing in match threads and dominating games when thrown into the midfield.

We also say goodbye to SarahSmiles who has signed with the Swamprats for S26. Sarah came to the club as a rookie this season and flew out of the blocks with some massive match thread numbers. Always got involved in the threads and tried his hand at some media over the course of the season. Played predominately on the wing during his time at the Wonders and finished high (7th) in our B&F count. One hell of a rookie the league has gained and the Swamprats will be better off with him in the side.

RU_ came to the club during the middle part of the season after taking a small break from the SFA in general. Had a big impact in his first outing posting over 90 times in the match thread and was a solid contributor from that point onwards. I thank him for his 8-9 matches he played during the season.

And we also say goodbye to Bucking Beads, BlueMaster1, Danger Zone and whitey_1975 who have all had their moments during the past few seasons with us.

We welcome back to the club TheHairyGamer who had some time away from the SFA and Bigfooty to focus on a few real life things. I'm excited to see what he can produce being at full health whilst we also welcome a bloke who has played 247 games in the SFA but never 1 of those for the Wonders and he's someone who has kicked over 600 goals in his career, we welcome okeydoke7 to the club. okeydoke7 is looking forward to pulling on the boots for the club in S26 and play alongside some of our big names in croweater41, BallaratBulldog and PVF. Can you imagine our forward line of

Thats, 410, 605 & 213 goals with just those 3 alone. Combined that's 1,228 goals between our forwards. I'm way too excited to see that forward line function at some point during the season


Well that's basically all from me at the moment. We'll be looking to add a few more names to our squad for next season with a couple of big names from other clubs very likely to come join the Wonders in S26. It's an exciting time ahead
