My 2 cents on Shiel.
I don’t really see him looking at our year and thinking “I should break that contract I signed last year and go to Carlton ASAP”.

If he really is planning to finish his career at Carlton like many think, SOS would have had several chats with him and I think the discussions would revolve around waiting until he is a free agent.

Of course SOS isn’t going to rule out trading pick 1 because you never know what kind of deal could present itself. It will have to be something special I think.

I wonder if those who thought we wont have pick 1 at year end now think differently?

This weekend coming might have a say in it too.
Might also depend if the AFL grant the Suns a PP. It could well be before the first round.
Imagine if we finish bottom and GC get the first pick because we don't ask for a PP.

Not cherry picking at all buddy.

If you really want to test the important stats; how do the two compare for metres gained, and I50 entries?

EXACTLY two elements of our ball movement we lack in, and PRECISELY the reason we are/should be targeting Dylan Shiel
Ed role is to shut down stars, he does. I was assuming ed went with treloar, he had 7 possessions at half time. Treloar usually racks up shed loads of possessions
So if I’m wrong so be it but seriously down ed because imo Shiel plays a different role isn’t fair.

Who says they get pick 1? Wouldn't it be directly after the Suns first pick, or middle/end of round? I don't think they get pick 1 as a PP just because.

Also, just on the PP, as much as I love the club taking a stand and not applying for a PP I do also think there's a bit of grandstanding in that. On the surface I love it from a theocratic perspective, but once you look into it it is a rather poor list management move. I know the current system is the clubs apply for it and the AFL decides from there, but is there a system in place where the AFL can give one out without the request of the club?

From the AFLs perspective they will be looking at a club that's had 3 consecutive years of regression from an already poor position. They don't want to see that from any club let alone a powerhouse like we should be.

A PP is usually granted before the first round or at the end of it.
Comp picks are related to where the club finishes.
This is the GC we are talking about the AFL will do what ever they want.

Is it? Since the new system has come in has any team received a pick before the first round?

Not yet. This could be a first.
What?..

Pretty sure any (decent) PP is after the club's first round pick or at the end of the first round.

Imagine the Hawthorn outrage if GCS had the rules completely changed for them for Lynch, remembering back to the 19 or whatever it was that they got for Buddy.

Blue i never get sucked in, i look at every scenario, post, on merit in terms of viability

Just because it doesn't include " " doesn't mean it is not viable, or wasn't said

If that was the case, any of rumours, especially from the reliable sources, would also be just that, their opinions

Can't just assume that's what he said then. SOS in no way indicated that we're targetting anyone he clearly said we're open to offers which is what you'd expect him to say.

Really need a stat for how often the ball is retained after a i50 entry. No point in a i50 if it get marked by a defender and come straight back.

I’d put money on it, that this conversation has been had (re PP). Your 100% right, it would be down right negligent not to explore the PP.
For us to take a stand & then the AFL steps in and says take this- I would be very happy with that.
We get the show “strength”, the AFL shows that it wants a strong competition & that it will look after the best interests of all clubs (it also opens the door to prop up GC without a formal request) it’s a win/win.

I am talking about a PP not compo picks. GC could get a PP if they ask for one and it is up to the AFL to decide what pick it it. Could be before the first round or at the end of it.
Any compo picks for Lynch is different. They would get a pick straight after their first pick, so around 4.
Hypothetically the Suns could get pick 4 for Lynch and a PP from the AFL because they are struggling. It could be well be pick 1, before the first round , but more likely at the end of the first round.

Compo pick vs priority pick.

They are different.

GC would probably get the compo pick as well. Meaning they may end up with 1, 4, 5 etc

... when they were top 2, just off a flag - which was their second in 10 years - and just before they went on to win two more to complete a hat-trick of premierships and 4 inside a decade.

AFL can set the agenda how they wish, and if I can make a case for different scenarios they can probably do it better.

Do you have stomach cramps or something. Is this a cry for help?
that's the last sushi with raw chicken juice dripping on it in the fridge I'm ever trusting..........
