any chance of a pic of your towels on the line? no way 2 towels, 3 pegs.............shows a hurried, inefficient effort..........
What do you know? Thy being a smartass to a relatively new poster sharing his thoughts that, really, aren't that outrageous.

Standing up straight and opening your chest when you're tired allows more oxygen to get in, it's also perceived as better body language - this is common knowledge isn't it? Played footy my entire life and especially during pre-season it was always encouraged to put hands on head as opposed to hands on knees after a big running stint. Same as half time of games etc.

Anyway I have no idea why the **** I am talking about this.

Well Hodge coached us the following year and he had the same expectations. Four premierships as captains between them, yep, they’d have no idea about training demeanour.

I wasn't referring to the hands on knees, hands on head

I was referring to the comment regarding Mitchell setting the standards

Ok, I’m out of here. With my dealings with him I’d suggest Mitchell would be a terrific addition to our coaching panel. Would be a great mentor to our young midfielders.
I agree mate, but you'll struggle to find anyone around here who has any praise or admiration from any non-CFC player/associate, so don't take it personally. Think you'd be more popular if you suggested the 60 yr old Wayne Johnston to come and train the midfield and tell stories of the great CFC of the 80s.

Thanks for sharing your experience with Mitchell and Hodge though.

I would argue that nothing Sam Mitchell does is pointless. Bending over and looking at the ground was seen to be negative body language. Alternatively, having hands on hips instead of knees keeps the spine straight and your head up. These were standards that were inforced during their premiership era so they obviously have some substance.
Someone tell Robert Harvey. He might have won three Brownlows instead of just two.

could be a niche thread idea there for all you 'no hands on knees wins premierships' believers

hilarious
Mitchell setting the standards, have heard it all now
KK I'm not taking a shot, just commenting that the science behind it has been shown not to replicate. They may well do it, but that may not be what's driving their success.
Yep, right. Wtf would I know. He only coached me for half the season.
Think you’ve all missed the point Kk has made. As a coach who has taken over multiple teams who finished last the year before and taken them to finals (one winning) in the space of only one season this kind of thing is the first change I make.

It’s not about sports science. It’s not about fitness. It’s about attitude. Hands on knees is the easy option. If you’ve done the hard yards. Stand tall. Be proud and help your mates. It’s not good enough to put your hands on your knees. Have seen first hand how this type of ideology can seriously shift attitudes and being teams together. You want players to be subconsciously ok with taking the hard option. Too many take the easy option. Without even realising. Too many excuse them for it.

From the weekend I saw plenty of it from Carlton players. None from the lions. I saw plenty of Carlton players leaving their mates one out. Letting their mates get pushed around. No one flew the flag. I don’t give a **** if you don’t like sam Mitchell this is what he’d help to stamp the **** out and it’s a ****ing cancer at our club.

ST i have done a fair bit of coaching, i am not having a go at the concept of "hands on head, versus hands on knees". My statement was based around Mitchell setting standards, as a whole.

it was the hands on knees stuff that worried me - we are finished as a club

Wouldn't rate Mitchell who was a Premiership Captain, 4xPremiership player, 3x All Australian, 5x BnF, 1x Brownlow Medal winner to be setting standards? Can I ask why?
