fightingfury_88 Are you still doing these? If not then I personally would agree to hardships for both

Applying for Darcy Moore as a hardship key defender (I'll wait to see if he really does settle as a key defender before nominating him permanently).

I have Weitering, Henderson, and Melican all out through injury. I previously played Henry as a hardship KPD earlier in the season, but I think with Moore available he makes slightly more sense this time around.

I see no issue with that I guess.

Hardship Key Forward Applications for Oscar McInerney & Toby Nankervis for this week

Until 20 minutes ago I had 3 key forwards in Apeness, Kersten and Oscar Allen all named, including 2 on the field, but the WA teams just threw a curveball and they're now all out!

McInerney definitely imo. Can someone give me a second opinion on Nankervis?

Apply for Josh Caddy hardship G status. Plays as a CHF type role for Richmond. Kicked 31 goals last year in that role. Other KPFs in McGovern, Waite, Stewart are all injured/not named.

Alternatively could apply for Robbie Gray who plays as our deepest forward most weeks.

Caddy definitely a hardship KPF

I’ve had limited access all week but am back now. Don’t have an issue with any of the nominations. Would be a bit unfair to deny them this late in the week anyway.

Given the Kruezer heart problem early on even though he started am I able to move Hipwood to Hardship Ruck for this round and have his spot in the forward line taken by Jake Waterman.

Just putting it out there

No, unfortunately that’s not an option. Similar things have happened to other teams this year.

Gold Coast apply for Tom McDonald to be granted permanent KPF eligibility after the loss of Jon Patton for the rest of the season.
Any opinion on this? It's no secret that he's been playing as a key forward.
He's 8th in the leading goal kickers in the AFL this season.

Apply for Shaun McKernan to gain permanent key forward status. He's played foward for a good two or three months now.

Both above permanent KPF applications approved.

Just had to wait for votes on it. I was a bit late on sending the message out.

Apply for Oscar McInerney to be KPF for the rest of the season - has played nearly every game as a key forward/ruck combo
Apply for Toby Nankervis to be KPF for this week - omission last week of Allen, Kersten & Apeness - if Fergus Greene/Fletcher Roberts play I am comfortable with either of them as options or I'll just take the 50% otherwise

Apply for Menzel as a hardship key forward. Missing Daniher, Buzza, Weideman. Menzel seems to play as a full forward type in the Geelong team with Hawkins.

Both are named in your 18 so it shouldn't matter too much but for the record, I'll grant Ceglar hardship KPF status first ahead of Menzel. If for whatever reason he misses then Menzel is more of an option.

No problem with hardship KPF status for McInerney for the remaining rounds.

Apply once again for Eric Hipwood to be a hardship ruck given Kruezer is out once again.
Note that Hipwood is not a valid hardship ruck selection this week as Lobbe is playing and on your list.

Initial key position player classifications have been confirmed for season 2019. The nomination/approval process has slightly changed with approval not going to a vote as it often took up to a week to get a response from three coaches. Instead I'll do my best to judge each nomination impartially; I feel this rule change should also help with consistency in the application of this rule.

Rules and initial classifications for 2019 can be found below. Opening post will also be updated as the season goes along when any applications are approved. Nominations for new classifications are open immediately and will close when

Key Position Player Classification Rules
Some players may be classified into one (or more) of three key position types; key defender, key forward and ruck.

Players are originally classified as a key position through their classification in that year's AFL Prospectus. There is no minimum or maximum number of these players allowed on your list and a single player can have multiple key position classifications.

In this thread coaches can nominate for additional key position classifications for a player/s which will be approved or denied by fightingfury_88 based on recent AFL history for that player. Approval results in the key position classification for that player being added. There are no minimum or maximums on the number of times a coach can apply for a key position classification.

Coaches can nominate a player for key position classification under two different methods; permanent classification and hardship classification.

Permanent classification is usually the result of an obvious and certain role change for a player and is a permanent classification that lasts for the remainder of the season. Usually this applies to potential dual key position players, however it is not limited to just these players.

Hardship classification can be applied for due to injuries or AFL non-selections resulting in a shortage of key position players being picked for your team. This classification is temporary and may last until the team regains enough permanently classified key position players. Approval for classification of these types of players is less strict than those nominated for permanent classification, however an appropriate player still needs to be selected (i.e do not apply for a small forward to be classified as a key forward). A player may be classified as a permanent and a hardship classified key position player at the same time. (e.g a coach with a shortage in KPD players but excessive KPF players may nominate for one of their KPF classified players to be a hardship classified KPD in addition to their permanent classification.)

When selecting teams, coaches must ensure that two key defenders, 2 key forwards and 1 ruck are selected in their starting 18.

If the above team selection conditions are not being met, then an appropriate key position replacement will be selected from the named interchange (i.e if a selected key defender is a late out or not named, a key defender will be selected from the interchange). If team selections conditions can still not be met, a replacement player will be picked from the interchange and their score divided by 2.

If a late withdrawal from an AFL team results in a shortage of key position players on your field, any key position classified player named on your interchange can take the place of the late withdrawal key position player without penalty.

Ok let's start this...better to know before my first games :p

Gippsland Sharks apply for:

Oscar McInerney to be classified as a permanent Ruckman - Played his entire career as a ruck essentially, was both a ruck and forward last year, and averaged 11 hitouts a game with a maximum of 18 in a match making him a genuine 2nd ruck option in a team

Oscar Allen to be classified as a permanent Key Forward - played juniors as a key forward, was drafted as a key forward, and while he only played 2 senior games, at least one of them was as a key forward rather than just a defender.

Oscar McInerney - Ruck: Approved. Attended the 2nd most ruck contests of any Brisbane player. He's essentially the backup ruck in Brisbane's team.

Oscar Allen - Key Forward: Approved. Basically played as a swingman in the WAFL. Played one of his two AFL games as a permanent key forward.
