One of the last acts we could see from the big man is him taking the 2018 mark of the year.

Couldnt care less who the 22 players are that win the premiership for the "West Coast Eagles" as long as the team wins.
I could. I'd rather NicNat was there. That would be better than him sitting on the sidelines for a year.

Stop being a chirpy twit just for the sake of being "different". I'm not ready for your "everything is fine" recital.

The only thing that's getting me through it is the thought of hearing the crowd at Optus stand and applaud him walking onto the field in a years time.

Imagine if we win the damn thing. The roar he will get from the crowd when the boys bring it home. I’m getting bloody teary and goosebumps just thinking about it.

Still a long way to go, I know.

I love the big fella too but he is not the be all and end all.

On NN i still reckon he needs to use this recovery to slim down a bit... Huge unit but would still be menacing if he was 10kgs lighter and could be used in other roles.

I don’t know about it being any 22 players. The specific 22 that would take the field on a GF day are what makes it all the more sweeter if we ever managed to go all the way. If for example we threw all the rookies out there and pulled it off, sure we won a premiership but it’s wouldn’t really count the same I guess. The fact that our club was in a massive hole 10 years ago and we’ve gone through all the shit to build it back up, with the likes of Gaff, NN, Lecca, Jk, JD even Pridda, being around that entire time and pulling us through. I think it definitely matters who runs out there. These guys deserve something back for it all, making the NN news all the more heartbreaking.

Him being out is a huge loss, yes i know we did not have him last year, and look where we finished, we scraped into the eight on the back of Melbourne crapping the bed in the last round, and then come up against the violet crumbles-Port in the first final. This year with him back we are sitting equal top, at this point of the season and for me that is due to how much better he makes this team and the midfield. When we are going through a flat patch in games, you can see him trying to lift the team, with all the little things he does, he generally provides the spark we need to get going again, it is going to be very tough without him.

I hope he comes back after this one, but big guys who have had multiple knee reco's have not faired well in the past.

Completely agree, comes back to the question of whether people view the West Coast Eagles as a team or as a franchise. Devastating news, NicNat is as heart and soul as any player in the comp. Wish him a speedy recovery.

Thank god
This knee is just a simple ACL no other ligament damage and bone bruising and lose bone chips.
Makes it much easier to recover than first knee injury.

Hopefully he is back round 14 or 15 next year.

Our next hard part will be to resign him as GWS will come at him big time in 2019 trade period.

What, you think GWS will be targeting a player who will be 29 and coming of 2 ACL's?
Nick is contracted till the end of 2019 I think.

His next contract due to his age and injuries will be vastly reduced one would expect.

Just so sad for Nicnat.

Lots of thoughts

Can we pinch a flag this year without him? Possibly, but it will be a lot harder than if we had a fit and firing Nicnat.

Has he got the motivation to go through the recovery again?

I believe his contract is up at the end of 2019. If he misses all of next year then he will have played 15 games in 3 years at around $1M a year. Expensive games, and I do know that some of his pay is marketing, etc. But still.

If he goes on, what are we going to offer him for 2020 and beyond? How will that effect what we can offer Gov, Gaff and Lycet. Will someone else take a punt on him with big money?

Interesting times, just sad for him and the club at the moment. But we've still got a job to do.

I blame the surgery Nic had on his ankles in 2016. I read somewhere that the trimming of the plantaris tendons leads to a weakening of the knee tendons.
or maybe i just want something to blame :(

Nup. Sorry. Its shit NN is out. But a premiership won on the back of him missing against all odds would be worth the pain.

Dont care what you think of what I say a premiership is the only end goal.
