Brayden Crossley will be unavailable for selection for at least the next couple of weeks after fracturing his cheekbone in the win over Sydney.
Crossley received the knock in a marking contest in the second quarter, but managed to play out the rest of the game after receiving treatment.
“(It was a) really courageous effort by Brayden to play with that injury throughout the game and display great resilience,” Gold Coast’s GM – Football Operations Jon Haines told the Alpha Sport Injury Update.
“(It’s) unfortunate for Brayden in the short term but a great sign of resilience and we’re sure he’ll be back really quickly.”
Nick Holman also received an injury to his shoulder in the third term, but like Crossley was able to play out the match.
“He got a knock on his shoulder so he’ll be a test this week,” Haines said.
“A really resilient effort by Nick to play through that particular injury on the weekend and continue to play his role for the team.”
As reported in last week’s Coaches Chat, Jack Martin was struck down by a calf injury at training and will be out for a number of weeks.
“It looks like a three to four week injury at this stage,” Haines said.
“Jack’s commenced his rehabilitation and we’re really hoping that he can come back towards the latter part of the season and we’ll see how that progresses over the next couple of weeks.”
In good news, Jack Bowes (quad) and Matt Rosa (hamstring) made successful returns from injury in the NEAFL and were prolific in the win.
“(It) was pleasing for both the boys and the club and obviously our supporters as well,” Haines said.
“Both guys got through the game really well and they’re looking forward to playing again this weekend.”
Ben Ainsworth and Pearce Hanley were ruled out of the NEAFL late due to illness, but are expected to make a full recovery for Saturday.

Barlow pretty much confirmed that in the interview he did on the afl players association website earlier in the year.
I'd say Barlow was the only one to stand up and question Dew about not rewarding players on form like Dew said he was going to do.
It's well known that players were frustrated with team selection earlier in the year and players were being left in the dark as to why they were not getting selected.

Suddenly his critics and any dissenting opinions have very very little currency

Barlow's absence has been conspicuous since the first pre-season match. There was a lot written about Barlow and Lyon falling out in Freo, yet when he came to the Suns everyone agreed that he has a strong leadership, positive attitude and fit into Eade's gameplan. When Dew came to the club there was a lot of good stuff said too. It seems like they just did not see eye to eye from the very start. Could be a long bow draw, but maybe Dew talked to Lyon and didn't like what he heard?

Peter Wright will miss the rest of the 2018 season after sustaining a high-level medial ligament injury to his knee.
Wright joined the casualty ward early in Sunday’s match, flying for a mark in the opening minutes of the first quarter and landing awkwardly after the marking contest.
He took his set shot for goal, then left the ground and did not return.
“Scans have revealed that Pete will miss the remainder of the year with this (injury),” Gold Coast’s Rehabilitation Manager Alex Rigby told the Alpha Sport Injury Update.
“He will undergo a comprehensive rehab program and be ready for day one of pre-season.”
Sean Lemmens was also hindered by his recently-healed hand which he fractured in a NEAFL practice match earlier this year.
Rigby said Lemmens had not seriously re-injured his hand and would be closely monitored during the week.
“In good news for Sean scans have revealed there’s no fracture there,” he said.
“He’ll be immobilised and modified through the back end of this week and we’ll assess his availability following training tomorrow.”
David Swallow will be available for selection this week should he pass all concussion protocols and complete the team’s main training session.
“He trained strongly earlier this week and will train with the group tomorrow with a view to be available over the weekend,” Rigby said.
Brayden Crossley looms as a likely replacement for Peter Wright this week after fully recovering from his fractured cheekbone.
“Brayden Crossley has undergone his progressions from his facial fracture two weeks ago and has trained strongly as well early this week,” Rigby said.
“(He) will also be available for selection on the weekend.”
After a one-game absence Rory Thompson is another SUN set to return.
“Rory Thompson sustained some hamstring tightness towards the back end of last week,” Rigby said.
“We decided to take a conservative approach with Rory and he’s gone through his rehab progressions well and has been running well earlier this week.
“He’ll aim to train with the group tomorrow and also be available for selection for Round 21.”

Another cruel injury blow to Pearce Hanley has left Gold Coast coach Stuart Dew scrambling for fit players to complete the AFL season.
Hanley reminded Dew just how much he's missed him this year with a terrific performance across the first three quarters in Saturday's 74-point defeat to Richmond.
He was comfortably the Suns' best player across that period, racking up 23 touches and three clearances.
But the 29-year-old didn't return to the field after he was seen applying ice to his hamstring at the final change.
Hanley was playing only his third match for the season. He injured his shoulder in pre-season, hurt it again in round three and finally made his return last week against Melbourne.
Dew expects he won't be seen again until 2019.
"I'm shattered for him, really," Dew said.
"He's worked so hard to come back from his shoulder.
"He's done a mountain of work so to lose him today is disappointing for him, first and foremost, but for us, we've missed him all year.
"And I think there was passages of play here today that we thought, 'Gee, we would have loved that for a lot of the year'."
Hanley hasn't had much luck since moving from Brisbane.
He missed a chunk of last season following the death of his terminally ill brother, Tommy, in his native Ireland.
The Suns finished with only two fit men on the bench against the Tigers, with rookie Will Brodie also hurting his hamstring.
Neither is likely to play in next week's Q-Clash against the Lions or Gold Coast's season-closer in Geelong.
Brodie and Hanley join a lengthy injury list that includes Tom Lynch, Sam Day, Aaron Hall, Peter Wright, Jack Martin and Rory Thompson.
