For the draft watchers.

In this years draft who is the equivalent of:

Stephenson

Higgins

Will Hayward

Oliver Florent

Love all those as players and feel they all have what we desperately need.

My thoughts

Stephenson - Conner Rozee probably the most underrated kid in the draft.

Higgins - Zak Butters while not as natural a goal kicker both low centre of gravity players and ball winners.

Hayward - Curtis Taylor

Oliver Florent - Closest probably Bailey Smith who is more inside and quicker then Florent.

GC are like us and they need multiple quality players. They are not going to chase pick 1 and give up multiple good pick to get it. They also aren't going to trade this years picks for next as they won't want to delay their rebuild.

I did say it's unlikely...

Just putting it out there as an idea and a possibility.

What's your ideal result for us this upcoming trade period?

Do people really rate Valente as top 25 in this draft? I'm starting to think there's some TAC kids who have been dropped like a stone because they didn't a call up for the champs.

I don't see why Valente is not a top 25 pick, people seem to be searching for issues that are not there with him.

Which teams are likely to finish lower than us next year in your opinion?

Likely? I don’t know. A lot can happen and things can change very quickly.

But I don’t think it’s unreasonable to suggest we can finish above Brisbane, St Kilda and the Suns.

Even clubs like North Melbourne and the Dogs could slide.

It’s not an impossibility that we finish last, but to say it is likely is a big stretch.

Why is it a big stretch? You're right that the Lions, Saints and Suns could finish below us, but it's unlikely to happen.

North slide below us? Come on, you don't really believe that. it's not outside the realm of possibility but there's nothing to suggest it's likely they'll slide below us next year.

Only the Suns are realistically going to finish lower than us. But then, my trade scenario gives them pick #1 + #2 next year anyway.

Dogs a very slight chance to finish below us.

For us to climb, we need to bring in someone like Shiel and hope to God that we don't get hit with injuries like we did this year.

I know us finishing last again next year isn't what people want to hear but we have to face reality. Our older players are mostly no good:

Thomas, Rowe, Jones, O'Shea, Mullet, Casboult, Lamb, Wright, Lobbe has got to be among the worst crop of 'senior' players.

Kreuzer is injury prone but he's a gun when up and running.
Ed is a goer, but nothing special. Still like him in our side.
Murphy, hard to gauge, he was crippled with injury this year. Hopefully bounces back next year.
Simmo, the clock is ticking for him. 35 years old, how long can he keep going?

Doc isn't going to just come back in and hit top form from round 1. Would be a miracle if he did.

We are a team relying on draft picks from end of 2015+, Docherty and Cripps. So again I ask, why is it a big stretch?

Agreed

A more reasonable run of injuries and we could win 7-9 games as many predicted for this year, similar to the past 2 seasons

We lost Gibbs. We replaced him with Kennedy and LOB. Yet you still expected to have as many if not more wins this year baring injuries?

There's no freaking way we were going to win that many this year. Look at how many kids we put on the park. 4-5 more realistic expectation.

Predicting a bottom 4, is like predicting a top 4

Who would of thought North would be knocking on the door of finals? What would their season look like if they had our injuries, or even the Lions

Bottom 4 is easier to predict than top 4. I wouldn't say it's equivalent.

3 of the bottom 4 teams this year were mostly predicted to be bottom 4 teams at the start.

Reality needs to be faced. Free Agency has crippled bottom teams and now they're expected to rebuild with 1 top 5 pick per year. It will take a very long time to climb off the doldrums mate. Be prepared.

After Doc went down, how many games did you think we would win?

Disagree, hence my statement. Think he is over rated.

I know you disagree, but you also said you don't know why Rankine is so highly ranked. Most people believe Rankine's better and it's based on the evidence.

But don't get me wrong, I reckon Rozee is going to be a gun too, would not be disappointed with him at all.

This is why i'm open to the Pick 1 for ADE pick 8, 13, 18 - pick up Rozee and Hately/RCD then pick up McHenry and Butters with the later picks.
Really like Rozee, reminds me of Will Hayward/Stephenson

Im hoping we do a deal with Adelaide. I would hazard a guess MM would be part of it somehow.

I don't not like Rankine, I just don't think he worth a top draft pick. I have my money on him being the slider this year.

He's right about TDK, there were midfielders left that were worth taking and I don't know what to make of TDK other than he seems a bit 'vanilla'. If standout KPFs are there really early in the draft, you usually draft them. The value is better for midfielders and third tall types later in the draft rather than genuine big men. I don't understand our tactics in the draft last year apart from the idea that SOS and co thought that we were going to rise up the latter dramatically, that may explain half of it.

Not sure how what we did last year shows SOS thought we would rise up the ladder dramatically?
TDK is the young ruck understudy we're bringing in for once Krooz finishes up...SOS obviously saw something in him and people have noted he's a bit raw but has some talent and a good attitude.

The fact he drafted him shows he's still playing the long game.

Players like Valente are often seen as having a high floor but low ceiling. Rozee, Collier-Dawkins etc area lot flashier and have the higher ceiling but sometimes the lower floor. Think Valente would be a super pick, having a high floor should never really be seen as a flaw in my opinion which is what recruiters seem to do quite often. They pick for potential or athleticism rather than picking the best footballer.

I seen a trade suggestion today that I actually don't mind... pick 1 to adelaide for thier 2 first round picks and galucci then we trade those first round picks and our 4th to Brisbane or gold coast for pick 2

We can still draft walsh and have picks 19 and approx 22 24 and get galluci for a fourth round pick essentially
