Can someone tell me where they think Kennerly will get drafted? And what are the knocks on him compares to O'Halloran and Valente types?

I think from pick 45 onwards
Knock is speed and contested ball

Not sure O'Halloran is quick?

I think if Kennerley drifts to pick 45 onwards, a team is a getting a good deal.
His contested ability is slightly better than many people give him credit. He did look very good on the outside, but did not look completely lost in the guts. I just think SA had a heap of inside styled players with the likes of Hately, Valente, Lewis, Sparrow....

Was he ever not going top 10? No way there are 5 players more talented than him, let alone 10.

But to bring this thread back to it's South Australian roots. Some stats for the weekend...

Seniors
Izak Rankine - 10 touches, 5 tackles, 1 goal
Jack Lukosius - 8 touches, 5 marks, 3 tackles
Hugo Munn - 7 touches, 2 marks
Jackson Hately - 22 touches, 5 marks
Jez McLennan - 15 touches, 5 marks
Connor Rozee - 11 touches, 4 marks, 6 tackles, 3 goals
Boyd Woodcock - 16 touches, 6 marks, 6 tackles, 1 goal

Reserves
Tobin Cox - 22 touches, 5 marks, 5 tackles, 8 inside 50s, 6 goals
Martin Frederick - 20 touches, 9 marks, 3 rebound 50s
Mihail Lochowiak - 19 touches, 5 marks, 5 tackles, 1 goal
Tom Lewis - 28 touches, 12 tackles, 7 inside 50s, 1 goal
Hayden Sampson - 18 touches, 4 marks, 1 goal
Oscar Chapman - 14 touches, 10 marks, 1 goal

U18s
Jake Tarca - 14 touches, 4 marks, 6 goals
Luke Valente - 30 touches, 8 marks, 6 tackles, 2 goals
Jacob Kennerley - 27 touches, 12 marks, 11 inside 50s, 1 goal
Ben Jarvis - 11 touches, 6 marks, 17 hitouts, 1 goal
Over ager Lachie Pascoe had a big game for Norwood U18's too, reckon he might be a SA smokey after doing his ACL early last season, probably most thought of as a defender but can play forward and it's even been suggested he could transition into a big bodied mid.

30 Disposals - 26 Kicks [19 effective] - 4 handballs [all effective] - 12 handball Receives - 8 Marks - 2 Clearances - 1 Tackle - 5 i50's - 6 r50's for Norwood's U18's on the weekend.

I was a big fan of Lachie Pascoe last year. He was doing really well in the Reserves as a medium defender. Ball magnet, marked strongly and an excellent kick. I was hoping his recovery would be quick enough to get himself into the frame to play at the Championships this year, but that was always going to be a stretch. Only real knock on him was his speed. But I'd have drafted him.

If I was to guess, I'd say he'll be playing for Norwood again next year but could then get himself drafted as a mature aged prospect. But you never know. Could be a value rookie pick this year if he finishes the year strongly.

Does anyone know why Aaron Nietschke didn't play for Centrals on the weekend? Reserves had a bye but thought he would've played 18's. Not that they needed him but not sure why he didn't play as i don't think hes injured.

Hately seems to consistently get 20+ in the seniors suprised he isn't higher on draft boards then what he is. I reckon he's the perfect modern day tall midfielder exceptional hands in close. Rate him
I agree, has the frame to put on a heap more muscle as well. Rate him quite high.

Draft combine invites for SA...

South Australia
Jez McLennan (Central District)
Ben Jarvis (Norwood)
Izak Rankine (West Adelaide)
Tom Sparrow (South Adelaide)
Jackson Hately (Central District)
Jacob Kennerley (Norwood)
Connor Rozee (North Adelaide)
Luke Valente (Norwood)
Shane McAdam (Sturt)
Hayden Sampson (South Adelaide)
Riley Grundy (Sturt)
Jack Lukosius (Woodville West Torrens)
Hugo Munn (Sturt)

Nothing too surprising really. Good to see Shane McAdam get an invite. There's a lot of interest there, him and Corbett from the VFL are easily the two best mature aged players this year.

Unluckiest would have to be Tom Lewis. I still think he'll be a super player and well worth a draft pick, but height is sometimes an issue for clubs with these inside midfield types. Otherwise Oscar Chapman will get drafted I think, but clubs would have seen him at the state combine last year. While it seems a few of the later round Academy prospects were overlooked from all states, but I expect we'll see Frederick and Lochowiak test at the local day.

Hey Chris25 what are your thought on Matthew Nunn from Norwood?

Statistically he’s having a fantastic season, do you think he’s a chance to come in and have a Tim Kelly like impact at AFL level next season?

Tom Lewis not the quickest, will have to be moulded into Tom Mitchell type player. Hopefully gets a run in League this year.

Played alot of football of late and hadn't had a week off since Champs, genuine rest week. He was big yesterday in Reserves playing loose DEF, took some big marks and courage backing back into packs. Kicking still a bit iffy, great runner tho and ground level work very sound. 3rd rounder to Rookie , no real AFL quality or 'X-factor' just very good and solid across all areas. Marking maybe his best strength, or his stoppage ability. Hopefully has a big finals series, if Centrals make it.

Kennerley is a 2.91 20m ? Tested in Dec of 2017 at SANFL testing day. Speed isnt an issue at all.

The amount of Vic Country kids who were invited from a poor team compared to the SA team with twice as much talent is head scratching.

Nothing head scratching about it actually given the 80 players selected are there at the request of the AFL clubs PROFESSIONAL Recruiters who've been keeping tabs on all these lads for at least 3 or 4 years. Clearly they've gone for the lads they think have the best chance of having a successful AFL career down the track and I'd highly doubt the lad's state of origin would even be a consideration at this point in the draft cycle.

So you think the Vic Country team was more talented than the SA one? We disagree big time if thats the case. Tom Lewis didnt get an invite, so hes not regarded as much by the scouts as you do.
