And what % of these new teams do you think are the "wife" teams of people who are already playing from the start?
Yeah it's probably right, but it's pretty clear they don't care about that. Having 200 000 entries this year is a lot better than only having 150 000 when it comes to trying to generate advertising revenue.

Top 2 rucks always change!

Which other ruck do you think can or is capable of averaging 125+ next year?

NicNat - injured
Goldy - at 31 next yr his 125+ glory days are probably behind him (could possibly go 110-115 again)
Stef - 110 is his ceiling. 32 yrs old next year
Ryder - 110 ceiling. Excellent tap ruck but doesn't get enough around the ground possies to go 120+
Witts - see Ryder
TBC & McEvoy - 100 ish is about their ceiling.
Nank & Sinc have some more room for improvement - could possibly go 105+
Jacobs - has had one 115 season, but that was 5 years ago in his prime. Well past his best.
Kreuzer - 110 absolute ceiling if all goes perfectly well injury wise, but a veteran now with a banged up body.
Sandi - prob retired - too old
Darcy - maybe in 2-3 years
Stanley & Lycett - maybe 105 max
Hickey & Longer - no & no
Simpson - decent tap ruck, not much around the ground 100 tops
Lobb - if fit and sole ruck - could go 100+
Preuss - if 1st (sole) ruck somewhere - 90 maybe - unproven
Roughed & Boyd - no & no - English could possibly push up to 80-90 with a solid pre-season

Gawn & Grundy both just coming into their prime now. Even if they don't back up with 125+ averages, they will still be the clear top 2 injury permitting.

Goldy would be the closest bet.

31 years old is not that bad for a ruckman either and he currently only has a 100 avg for this season so he could be tempting to some

Pretty spot on except for Nank.

Will have to start getting a lot more possies to get that jump coz he is not going to start winnig more HTAs.

Cant see that happening though unless he gets super fit.

Yes. But at this stage, these two (Gawn and Grundy) are so far clear of the rest, it's hard to see anything changing unless one of the gets injured.

Which is the same every year.
And then injuries, form or a freak season (eg Kreuzer) happens.

If Goldy is the best bet then he will replace one of those two.
I’ve gone the whole year without Grundy and no doubt I regret that, but I can’t see the same two happening again given recent history.

I think this year would have been good to start Gawn (bargain) and NicNat (Uber bargain) then grab Grundy when it became clear he would replace Kreuzer as top dog. One trade and you get top 2. I started Gawn/Martin and have stuck firm but missing points weekly.

Had him all year and after his 9th consecutive 100 this past weekend I don't regret it for a second. Of course Grundy has been huge, but Goldy has been such a wonderful POD because I haven't had one league match up all year against anyone who has him.

I'll probably start Gawn and Sauce next year to save money on my initial round 1 squad. Then if Sauce spuds it again look to upgrade him early.

Kreuzer going to be dirt cheap next year (430k). Very risky though.

He will spud it up for some reason another he gets a lot of hit outs to the opposition. A stat I found out after a started him 2 years ago. The same year that became -5 on his score.

In short dont do it.

If I was to take a risk on a cheap R2 he'd be the one. Would have to have a really solid pre-season though.

Would feel safer getting a shave from Ivan Milat than picking Kreuzer again....

I started with him @600k+ this year knowing the risk that always comes with him. At 430k though he should at least make a bit of coin (50k+) even if he ends up being a stepping stone to Grundy.

Got sick of nanks bs so made the dumb trade to kreuzer after he pumped out a few big scores.

I avoided the mutt last year coz of his fragility but he went nuts, didnt wanna make that mistake again....smh
