Current Samurai Sword Murder of Rapper Jett McKee

Hannah Quinn sobbed into her hands as she was granted bail over the samurai sword murder of Sydney rapper Jett McKee.

The 23-year-old and her boyfriend Blake Davis are accused of murdering McKee after he broke into their Forest Lodge home in broad daylight last Friday.

Quinn was today also charged with being an accessory to the murder of McKee, known in Sydney hip-hop circles as Scepaz.

Quinn's defence lawyer Tom Hughes told the court the prosecution case against his client was weak, claiming after the attack she screamed “what the f*** have you done”.

Mr Hughes claimed Quinn's scream eradicated any suggestion she knew her boyfriend was about to kill him.

The court also heard 30-year-old McKee, who had a known gambling problem, broke into the couple's home around lunchtime demanding cash.

Police facts state neighbours heard Blake shout “we don’t have any money”, before Jett punched him in the face with knuckledusters and fled.

Background is alleged to be that they chased him down, Quinn tackling McKee to the ground before Davis struck him in the head with the blade. As he lay dying, the couple fled and hid in an alleyway. The couple then went home, changed their clothes and dumped the weapon.

Detectives later recovered their mobile phones, a fake gun and $21K in CASH. (uh oh) After telling McKee they had no money.

So we are supposed to believe that, after he punched her boyfriend in the face, that she chased the rapper down and spear tackled him. Righto.

The self defence falls down once he leaves the premises and they chase him
Well the guy who got killed with gambling debts and a wannabe gangster broke in with fake gun, acting tough etc then s**t happens...

At this stage for mine it’s self defence.

I think they're in trouble. If he'd been killed as a threat to life in the house they still wouldn't be clear of an investigation, possible charges but likely walk. That they chased him with a weapon and he was running, the situation had reversed.

There's the money, they had over $20K in the house. Most people confronted with a home invasion would hand it over and hope that was the end of it .... if they were truly fearing for their lives.

It's going to be interesting to see how this pans out.
Couple years for the guy who slashed him up. The lady nothing.
I have no issue with this. I dont think a self defence defence is going to fly
Well if someone put a gun at my face and threatened me it’s a new ball game. It would be self defence of I stabbed/slashed him with a sword. I feel the guy should get off. Was just at home when and got a welcome he was not looking for.

Sure but you miss the point of a self defence defence. The threat to life must still exist.

The dead person left the property only to be pursued

Yeah something doesn't add up.

On the original r/sydney thread someone claimed the girl was heard shouting " Leave me alone "

I can't confirm if it was an eyewitness account or second hand knowledge , could also easily have been the victim screaming for his life - i reckon I'D also sound like a girl if i had a sword coming at me.

She wanted her handbag back. I kind of get that ...

Ms Quinn told police she chased McKee from the home after he took off with her bag.

Police allege she gave chase down Hereford Street, screaming "Who are you? Who the f*** are you?" and Mr Davis, allegedly armed with a samurai sword, followed about 10 metres behind her.

When she caught up to him, Ms Quinn allegedly grabbed his jacket and flung him to the ground.

There's another person involved who fled the country, there's way more to this story. And Star Casino might have some questions to answer.

The day after Jett McKee was allegedly murdered with a samurai sword following a home invasion gone horribly wrong, the person who drove him to the inner-Sydney address fled to Singapore at dawn.

The "known person", who cannot be identified, allegedly drove Mr McKee to the Forest Lodge address shared by 23-year-old Hannah Quinn and her boyfriend Blake Davis, 28.

Mr McKee flung open the glass doors to their home and forced his way inside to demand money.

The aspiring Sydney rapper bolted from the home after an altercation, and was on his hands and knees in the street when he was allegedly struck by Mr Davis on the head with a samurai sword.

As he lay dying in the middle of the road, the known person ran over and asked, "Jett, Jett, are you OK?"

But as police sirens rang out in the distance, the unidentified person got in the car and drove away.

Saying Mr McKee would soon arrive at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital by ambulance, the person arranged to meet Mr McKee's pregnant girlfriend Averil Bowers there, where he handed over Mr McKee's mobile phone and keys.

In a subsequent Facebook conversation, Ms Bowers said, "He's dead and it's all your f---ing fault" to the unidentified other person.

"You did it [drive Mr McKee to the home] even though you knew it was a bad idea."

The morning after the fatal attack, the unidentified person boarded a flight to Singapore where it is believed that person remains.

Police facts seen by Fairfax Media state that Mr McKee had been $31,000 in debt to The Star casino until his parents repaid it, but he continued to use pokie machines.

....... investigators found $21,800 in cash, six nunchucks and a pellet gun and two mobile phones that Ms Quinn said in a police interview were used to purchase marijuana.

Sounds to me like the wanna-be gangster targeted them, knowing they’d have large sums of money, but also aware they’d defend (with violence) those large sums of money...

What was the relationship between the guy killed and those who pursued him after the burglary down the street with the samurai sword?

I don't think that's been declared yet but imo they all may have known each other. Quinn chasing Jett yelling "who the **** are you?" may have been more along the lines of "who the **** do you think you are"

Quinn's pursuit of her handbag unless it was a $3.5k Burberry, could have been because the $21K was in it?
