My gut feel is the AFL will award us and GC “pre-finalist” Priority Picks (10/11) on the proviso that they both need to be traded for established players.

This is the pick (10) we will use for McGovern.

GC may use 11 for Lloyd (Sydney).

It's looking like we want a pick in the top 3, with Rankine and Walsh very high on our target list.
Maybe GC can get involved?

Also, Adelaide wouldn't be trading too much for pick one. Projected 1st round prospects from SA are: Lukosius, Rankine, Rozee, Hately, Valente and maybe Grundy could sneak in, but I wouldn't count on it.
Picking up two good quality SA talents in Rozee and Hately would be a better choice for the club than going for another tall, and everyone knows how tall Adelaide is.

I don't think Carlton will trade any more than pick 10 for McGovern anyway. We have our spine of tall forwards: De. Koning, McKay, Curnow. With some depth as well: Kerr, Silvagni, Casboult. We can use pick 10 on a good quality mid, like Rozee, Hately, O'Halloran and Taylor, or involve it in the "locked in" Setterfield trade or Shiel trade.

10 ---> Shiel Setterfield #14 > 1 ---> 8 Mcgovern

LOL the 2 x 1st rounders + the 2nd rounder (#22+#20+40 after all the compo/academy/father sons) would not even be close to #3
Then you have included miles + Lloyd we would trade these players to them for pick #127 anywhay
B.Ellis there is no way they can convince him to leave richmond and he will be a free agent next year so he can chose where he goes and for the $$$ next year so why leave

But #3 they could trade to Crows/Port for the 2 1st rounder both teams have e.g Port #9+#10 (polec trade) as both sa clubs have a hard on for Rankine+Lukosius
Or they could get Swans 1st Rounder +Lloyd due to swans wanting to move up the order not to use it on Blakey

So let's say hypothetically the saints finish in the 9-12 area of the ladder next year, that trade is essentially a 1st round pick downgrade that Brisbane have to wait a year to get, and then a straight swap of Ross for Beams? Sounds good.

I would rate Cerra as worth at least pick 4 in this draft. 5 + proof of being very good at AFL level + a year’s experience.

If we had to lose him, he would be worth one of Gold Coasts draft picks (on-traded obviously) or pick 1 and a small downgrade of pick 6. The likelihood is that Freo fans would still regret that trade in to the future.

Your player value/judgement is as overrated as your players.
Should concentrate on retaining players instead of trading in and out at unrealistic value.
At the end of the day you drafted him at 43 and if you get a pick in the teens for player who doesn’t want to be there you should be satisfied.
Take a pick in the teens, bundle them up and get the SA boys you can, but be realistic.
