Lance Franklin
Lance Franklin is a giant of the game. The star Sydney Swans forward has played 300 AFL games, won two premierships with Hawthorn, is the seventh-greatest goal-kicker in VFL/AFL history, is one of just five men with eight All Australian blazers and is the most recent player to have kicked 100 goals in a season. The Western Australian is also one of just two players in the game’s history, along with former Swan and Saint Tony Lockett, to have booted 300 goals for two clubs. Franklin was added to a leadership group for the first time in his career ahead of season 2020, joining co-captains Josh Kennedy, Luke Parker and Dane Rampe, as well as Callum Mills. But the 33-year-old, who was named captain of the 2018 All Australian team, has long been considered an exceptional unofficial leader, so great is his impact on Will Hayward, Nick Blakey, Ben Ronke and the rest of Sydney’s young forwards.

Lance Franklin
DOB: 30 January 1987
DEBUT: 2005

And the irony is that a lot of those games against non-finalist sides were losses, where we were decimated in inside 50s.

In fact I hope the AA folks take that into account. We are ranked 15th in the competition for inside 50s. The three teams above us are the Bulldogs, St Kilda and Brisbane, and the three teams below us are Fremantle, Gold Coast and Carlton. That he managed to kick 57 goals, despite missing 5 games, is actually unbelievable really.

Have to pick my stat...another record breaking AA selection perhaps, knocking a few more legends down the goal kicking lists, another Premiership?

Not sure when...but the GOAT title shall be his.

Put a Facebook post up saying how I can appreciate what he did for Hawthorn but now fortunate I am as a passionate fan of Sydney to see him in red and white. He cemented himself last night as truly one of the greatest of all time. Bring on a big finals series bud. Strut your stuff. Do what you do best.

Had a good season but cant carry the club from here on in. Looked cooked most of the season but natural talent makes him something else. Hopefully a good rest and a full preseason will help but we may have already seen the best of him

Well yep he won’t be as good but he can still be a star

I just think we need to manage him

He can miss the odd game when fit not finally when he is crippled

I think he has plenty left in him. Has been hobbling around all year.

Let him rest now / on a program until after Christmas and look forward to a fit Buddy in 2019.

I agree

His best is past him but that’s because he is 31

I think he will play the deal out
