Multiplat Battlefield V

Finally got on a server with a few regulars I play with on BF1, it was much more enjoyable. The snow map is slowly growing on me, but I dislike getting shot and having zero idea of where the pathetic camping noob is so I can go take his tags when I spawn.

Just had a few goes. I'm on the fence as I usually gobble up anything WW2 but this is a bit arse. Time to kill is crazy and gameplay feels more like Battlefield than any unique setting, as in it's just BF1 with Stens and Stg44s. There were some pretty game breaking bugs like getting stuck on the deploy screen if the person reviving you gets killed but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that those sorts of things will be ironed out. I'll probably wait and see for some reviews after it's launched as I might be interested for the single player stories and it would still be good for the odd casual session.

Not buying this unless a few things change.

**** attrition off completely. The average Battlefield player is only getting dumber and meds, ammo and revives never happen.
Let me carry enough c4 to solo a tank.
Bring back spotting somewhat.
Show me a deathcam that gives the campaigner's position away.
Right now it's a camper's and headglitcher's wet dream.
Declutter the maps of so much ****ing debris.
Make the tanks more nimble to drive and increase the turret rotation speed.
Make decent maps which hasn't occured since BF3 in 2011 (except for Metro).
Fix the classes. Engineer/anti vehicle should have repair tool and SMGs not ARs/BRs. Refer BC2, BF3 & BF4.

LoL as if they're gonna fix all that stuff. I'll just keep my money this time DICE...

Gunplay is ok though.

Pretty well summed up...

I agree with the menus being clunky but this guy is just a sooking neckbeard that has zero idea on how to play. You can't run and gun in BF V, at first I disliked the lack of spotting but it forced me to slow down and move more tactically. I think he has forgotten that this is a beta, he is just pandering to the it's cool to really hate on BF V.

1. No, you shouldn't be able to take out a tank solo, disable it maybe.
2. I am enjoying the no spotting
3. Agree, without spotting there is no way to communicate to your squad where the camping bitch is that shot you.
4. Yep, but on the plus side I've taken more tags in a week on this than I have in BF1
5. Nah, tanks have been OP in pretty much every BF since BF3.
6. Rotterdam is a decent map, Harvik is horrible. Ameins in BF 1 is probably the best map I've played.
7. Medics with SMG's and Enigineers with AR's makes no sense. I've played as a medic most of the time as a result.

People are hating on this game because it is so far removed from what set the series apart in the first place.. Even the most rusted on Battlefield YouTubers who built their channels on the franchise are not hyped at all saying the game still needs work.

The series used to be a large scale sandbox shooter with literally dozens of ways to navigate from point to point. Now we get 4 to 6 lanes for
infantry and maybe 2 or 3 lanes if in a vehicle. Stop taking away my ability to choose how to play, that's why this game sucks.

Navigating without being spotted used to be an art form. Now you can't do it thanks to the shit and lazy map design so they remove spotting.

Back in Bad Company 2, 3 or the 4 classes could solo a tank. Engineers with rockets or Mine's. Assault and recon with 3 sticks of c4. If a tank driver is dumb enough to let players close enough to stick c4 on them they deserved to get solo destroyed.

BF1 Amiens is the best Battlefield map you've played? Shitty grid format bunch of lanes that just shows you up as the filthy casual the franchise has been trying to cater for..

I miss the old BF2 days on wake island and playing as the US starting aboard the carrier and trying to take control of the island.

I have to be honest and say I had other priorities when BF2 was around :(. Didn't get into the Franchise until BC2.

But I did thoroughly enjoy the back to Karkand DLC (*** :drunk:) in BF3. Rush on those maps was epic.

BC2 was a great game but very different from BF2 imo

I think rush was the most common game mode in BC2 as opposed to conquest which makes them hard games to compare.

I mainly played conquest. Was great fun. No battlefield game since BC2 has been anywhere near as good. Getting worse and worse with every title. Pre orders seem to indicate it’s gone too far.

Isn't that Battlefield 1943?

Still get decent numbers playing that on xbox one.

Wake Island has been used many times

More on the map design and the presence of lanes from DICE themselves...

Shithouse, this is their open map too. 2 lanes stacked vertically. :drunk:
The other map is even worse and with the amount sheer volume of debris on the map tanks are almost exclusively only seen dockside. They have virtually put tanks on rails.

The Map and the Modes
The Closed Alpha took place on the map Arctic Fjord, featuring the Conquest mode and two modes of a Grand Operation: Airborne and Breakthrough.

Regardless of mode, the map was designed to have clear “lanes” where you engage with enemies and objectives, and thanks to this we saw many nice fights between the bridge towards the mountain side. The telemetry image above shows you the most popular places for players to be.

LoL. He said sandbox and playing the way you want yet the maps are designed to have clear lanes and the tanks are on rails. **** off kent.

Pretty sure BF2 & BC2 maps didn't compress all the players down to 2 lanes. BF3 onwards is when the map design took a sharp nosedive towards being over-sized Call of Duty maps.

Oh and Firestorm Battle Royale with tanks and squads only mode, no solo or duo.
Go home DICE, you're drunk.

64 player limit as well is a bit shit.

I started with 1942 then went through Vietnam, BF2 and skipped BC before jumping back in at BF3 and just want to echo that BF2 was the highlight of the series for me. A team without squads that worked together and a competent commander had no chance. The maps weren't laneways like mentioned BFV has, even BF1 was guilty of this. Wake and Oman were my favourite. Especially Oman. On Wake as a defender you knew the back points were pretty safe unless the attacker got both of the points closest to the carrier. Where as Gulf of Oman wasn't a horseshoe so you had the entire width of the map for beach landings as well as attackers being able to drop in anywhere.

You missed the best series.

I started at BF3 so yes I'm not one of those Trump supporters trying to make America great again. Wake Island is the most overrated map in BF, on conquest it's a campers dream.

Campers dream for the Chinese?

I started at BF1942 and only didn't play BC1 as it was on console and I didn't have one at the time.

I will say this game feels very rushed, to the point where I think they should probably release it in a years time. It's clearly not ready and they are rushing it out the door to compete with COD/before christmas.

I thought BF1 was good but lacked polish and variety but I think this is even worse.

I kinda like attrition mechanic. Forces one to be more tactical. Devs said they will increase starting ammo which will solve the problem somewhat of people just looping supply stations which alters gameplay dramatically.
Also audio cues (footsteps etc) need to be addressed asap which I understand will be happening.
Need a new dynamic in the game and I think when attrition is somewhat balanced with more starting ammo it can work.
