Confident; I’ve even given hidden clues about the source within posts[emoji51]

It’s great that McGovern is coming too.

And I’m sure PR and timing is the most important consideration for the club : note that no one from the club has commented on the mature age pick plan yet.

Jon Ralph has alluded to club positives about this though apparently as well as Shiel-Blues.

Ralph is not the source!!! Just thought I’d bring that up [emoji23]

Good stuff. I hope it pans out mate.

An underager in Rowell was BOG in the TAC grand final. Like every year there will be outstanding prospects at the top of the draft next year. Don't think Shiel is worth giving that up.
If we get Shiel & Setterfield along with Docherty and the rest of the injured crew returning we should be aiming for a lot higher than 16th next year. So it should be pick 4-7 next year which Shiel is worth in the long run

So no PP

This rebuild is going to be so much sweeter

The good thing about this, is no PP to prop other sides up in future when we flying high again. They will have to follow our model and do the hard yards at the draft for a number of seasons. I love the state league stuff assistance more for the league as a whole. Counters a bit of the free agency stuff. I do have a slight concern though, that when we finally get seriously good again, the free agency rules will change again that we cannot benefit from like teams at top of ladder have in recent times to sustain strong list giving up no picks etc.
I suspect when we up again the free agency rules will mean the club gaining a big free agent gives up some pick and that goes to the club losing player as some form of compo. At moment the clubs getting big free agents give up nothing and every other club not involved is moved down the draft order one spot to allow the other club compo from a pick that previously did not exist.

Few thoughts.
I too was disappointed in last night's news but have slept on it and think we will be ok. It's been a bit of a rollercoaster like somebody else posted previously.
It's unlikely the club will trade pick 1 unless in an extraordinary deal. We pick Walsh for mine.
Any news on Shiel? He did alright in the count last night. These sort of announcements seem to be made around 10am WST but hopeful nonetheless.
I can take or leave the MM deal. Could be handy though if it's not too painful dealing with the crows.
Sounds simplistic but let's try and enjoy this journey. We have all heard the propaganda but what other option do we have. We have all seen the video - we have a good spine albeit a developing one. I still back SOS this trade period.
Bring it on 2019

Current wishlist:

  • Shiel and Setterfield for Pick 24 and 2019 First.
  • McGovern for Pick 25 and a state league player (please be Grigg...)
  • McAdam via state league selection.
  • Fasolo via Free Agency.
  • An early second from GC for Jones and Casboult.

  • Draft Walsh at 1.
  • Draft one of Duursma, Jones, Butters or Stocker with the early second.
  • Rookie BSOS and/or Hickmott if we rate them.

IN: Shiel, Setterfield, McGovern, McAdam, Fasolo, Walsh, [DuurJonButtStock], Hickmott, BSOS
OUT: ASOS, Wright (ret), JGM, Shaw, O'Shea, Mullett, Graham (del), Jones, Casboult (trade)

Unless we deal with Sydney to turn two picks into one first rounder we won’t be getting MM which is no big deal. Next years first round pick for Shiel and then do something to get Setterfield. Need them both more than we do MM
Tend to agree.
Whilst MM would be great, just not sure he's worth getting all tied in knots for.

Gil says in discussions earlier on the PP was never really on the agenda.
Bulldust!

Apparently we need bigger bodies to help us whilst our kids are young so the vfl is the answer.
We need to redraft O’Shea and Shaw and mullet because that’ll make all the difference.

No mention of Richmond getting a leg up with a free hit.

That would be the dream outcome for sure

Gil is an absolute flog.
