thats his time at port, thats not picking and choosing his best.

compared to waite, picking and choosing his best years

2015 42 goals 23 games
2010 36 goals 16 games
2005 36 goals 21 games
2018 32 gaols 13 games
2013 29 goals 16 games
2016 29 goals 14 games
2007 28 goals 22 games

now pick one player of the two for your team knowing careers, jay by a mile. Thats not including the years taken up on the list injured or having poor years.
potential is a word that can be used for anyone, it only gets you so far. weather it be because of injuries, didnt train hard enough etc etc

Schulz was a gun, as a Crows supporter he would've been one of my first picked Port players, absolute dead eye dick, BUT....

Waite WAS the better player. More versatile, played a tougher role at both clubs, had some of the best mitts I've ever seen and turned games on their heads and was a genuine matchwinner far more often than Schulz, in worse teams for much of his career. His injury issues only balance the scales out production-wise but I have no doubt Waite was a better footballer.

I'll use the comparison of Brisbane's Bradshaw and Lynch - Bradshaw the really solid foil to the real cream and matchwinner who was Lynch. I left Jon Brown out of the comparison as neither Schulz or Waite were ever at his level.

Waite at the top of his game was better but he was there far too rarely whereas Schulz me was more consistent over a sustained period, the Sarg for me.

jay didnt get as much love because he played his best in south australia.
Waite may have had the higher ceiling or could have been the better player but mainly due to injuries never got there.
Looking at both careers as they are both done and not taking into what could have been jay had the better career

When fit, and he did play over 200 games, Waite was the better footballer.

Played multiple positions too - was great at CHB for Carlton for years.

Nobody is saying Schulz was s**t. But Waite was better.

Neutrals backing this up.

backing it up at a huge 5 to 5 vote lol.
schulz has the added problem with playing in adelaide and not getting the props as vic players get
waite must have played many bad years as a forward to kick as little as he did

very very shallow post. waite was a swingman and played a lot in defense.

poor effort. I give you an F.

He first moved to play CHB in the preseason in 2007, before playing up front during the season. He played back in 2008, then he played mostly up front in 2009 with some small amounts of time back.

You don't even know know where he played. Gun finals player... Carlton had a total of two wins in finals during his time at the club. And can't find any evidence he even played in the 2011 one. And Judd carried Carlton through the second one.

At North he's played in 3 out of 4 finals while there. In 2015 he played well against Richmond, was servicable against Sydney and was a waste of space against the Eagles. Some gun.

2003-2009 Waite spent a lot of time as a defender. There was points during his 2007/2008 where he looked like going on to being a dominant CHB. in patches of 5-10 games. He was only a full time FF since about 2010, the 3 years he managed to play through full seasons he kicked 42 goals, and the other two he swapped to CHB plenty of times

Im going to call you out and say you've been only watching Football for about 6 years. Waite's body of work wasnt just as a forward

Don’t worry, he had everything to be a dominant forward too.

That night he kicked 7 or 8 against us, he was just on another level to the other 43 players out there. Had his own footy.

Schulz. Let's compare their 2011-2018, from where both played consistently forward.

Schulz: 242 goals, 2.26 goals/game, 12 disposals, 6.3 marks, 1.7 CM, 2.9 MI50
Waite: 224 goals, 1.98 goals/game, 14 disposals, 6.1 marks, 1.9 CM, 2.6 MI50

So Schulz wins every stat line except disposals.

Versatility does not always mean better.

Schulz was one of the best lead up marks and kicks for goal I’ve seen.
