Folks as it all winds up who will get new jumper numbers?

Who will likely move on and hence their jumper number becomes vacant?

We know with certainty that Stephenson will acquire a new number.

Who else?

My best guess at what numbers will be available next season.

1.
11.
27.
35. By rotation
40.
43.

Suggest

1. Stephenson becomes the 1. And though he would love 16 it would mean Mayne moves a number....

11. Mihocek could see him take this lower number.

Which other players could seek lower numbers? Unsure really, as it’s not something we do a lot in past couple of years.

Please no, not 11 for Stephenson.
Just looks so odd for us in black white stripes.
He deserves better I reckon.

Well ideally I'd put him in 3....the other bloke doesn't seem to be wearing it any more? I know he wants 16 but Mayne deserves to keep that till he leaves. Putting Stevo in 3 sits him between JDG and Grundy....there's a fair bit of talent in those three! Giving him 11 means he's next to the skipper and also gets to see how hard a bloke has to work to get back from severe injuries (Shazz)...be a great learning curve for a smart young man.

With goodbye fasolo

We now know:

  • 1 is available
  • 27 if we agree Kirby news of delisting is going to happen
Then we have the speculative:

  • 11 shaky you'd think
  • 40 another shaky grounds player
  • 43 the ox has run out of patience
And will the number 8 become available?

We have to fit out Stephenson, and suggest 1 suits him.

Yes. 9 for Dayne, brother Claye (had) 17.
Ta.

I prefer players don't move numbers to assist new players unless there is a stronger reason than just number Continuation.

Though if Mayne wanted something else to allow Stephenson his loved 16 then I'd be ok with that.

I'm sick of people saying get rid of this 35 rotation.
I for one am really pleased that our top draft pick every single year learns about the history of the #35 and what presti meant to his teammates and the club. Presti's selflessness needs to be told and not be lost as a distant memory.
Every player will understand Presti's story and for that to ring true In our top pick every year, Then I love it.

Yeah fine but someone else actually made that number famous before Presti got to wear it.o_O

Hey Listen, I've watched Daicos highlights seen I've been able to walk, and my old man tells me all about him constantly.
But the story of presti goes beyond an individual, It has meaning beyond the person wearing the number and actually fleshing out the symbolism of what he did to every top draft pick we get is a great thing IMHO.

do they actually learn the meaning or just wear the number for a year and maybe have one interview at the start of the season where they are asked about?
